In case you hadn't heard, the fuckups at the Auckland City Council are drafting a new liquor licensing policy for Auckland City.

They are proposing that drinking premises outside the CBD and certain "Entertainment precinct areas" close at 11pm on a base alcohol license and midnight on an extended one, as explained in this Herald article:

This proposal will mean a lot of local bars in Auckland will close with others only staying open until John Banks's bedtime.

Naturally, nearby residents are overjoyed as they pump more air into their perfect little suburban bubble but the rest of us will face losing our local, or be forced into the toxic CBD to drink with lepers and cops.

The Council are taking submissions on this until the 7th of October so fill one out before they have us in bibs and nappies.

Drinking in pubs is like riding on SH1 - who would want to do that? I've drunk a fair bit of booze in my years, but very seldom in an establishment where I had to pay silly prices and rub shoulders with drunks.I'll stay off SH1....and out of bars.
