It's public property after all and we can do what we like with it.

There was some charter telly on last night.

It was outstanding.

"Gods and Generals".

It was part 1 of a Trilogy on the American Civil War and "Gods and Generals" was shot from General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson's perspective.

It was scheduled so as to finish at 4am, Sunday morning (inclusive of DST change). Good thing I was working last night thanks to DST, and the NZ Govts limited understanding of technology combined with its desire to do anything for a vote.

It was beautifully scripted and a joy to watch. Robert Duvall plays Robert E. Lee and manages to make himself look like him. Stephen Lang plays Stonewall Jackson and by golly that's a good beard.

Glorious, involving television exploring history without Saving Private Ryan's hyperbole.

I'm sick of Government Depts treating me and my fellow Kiwis like uncouth reality show addicts, with the IQ of a pinch of Gran's Remedy.

There was talk of cancelling daytime soaps on tv one. They should go even further and cancel any reality type show during the day, only doucmentaries and educational programming.

That'd get a lot of fat lazy dole bludging sloths off the couch and might even make dbp professionals reach for the durex before the next round.

I just built a MythTV box for about $400. That includes the fancy graphics card so I can decode 1080i.

Anyway, it's nice not having to worry about the TV schedule. Watch things when you want to watch them.

I watched G&G last night. It was a fantastic film.

Apparently the original director's cut was almost seven hours long. So they had to edit is pretty severely for the cinematic release.

TV in NZ is crap.
TVNZ are bunch of monkey's who cannot even operate a clock. They keep squeezing in the adverts, making programmes ALWAYS run over time. Why? To pay for the fucking egotistical wankers that front their network and also the retard public servants who "govern the direction of the network".

Coronation and Shortland Streets. Dump that crap from primetime viewing. If homo's and nanna want to watch, schedule it for the deepest, darkest timeslot and let the viewers record it.
Reality tv? Vile, cheaply made, programming. That is why we have so much of it shovelled onto our screens.

Thank fuck for JB Hi-fi (http://www.jbhifi.co.nz/). Their DVD's are doing well at home. Band of Brothers has had a complete re-screen recently, all at the cost of $29.95.

With you all the way Jim. Burn the bastards.

....
"Gods and Generals".

It was part 1 of a Trilogy on the American Civil War and "Gods and Generals" was shot from General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson's perspective.

.....

The next part is Gettysburg, filmed in two parts.

The third is called "The killer Angels" and as far as I know hasnt been made into a film or mini series yet.
