It died on me about 8.30 this morning. Came up again about 20 minutes ago.

No great loss, as the site hasn't let me start any new threads since we moved to the new server.

I kept getting this crap redirect thing to yupsearch.com searching for casinos. Bloody pissed me off cause the last site that did this was 4 months ago and I still can't get onto it. Still have this green bar thing across the top of the page that stays there as I scroll. kinda has me worried.

SENSEIThere's been issues with connectivity for weeks now, mustn't be an easy fix?

If it were that easy I would have fixed it many moons ago.

Unfortunately this is a problem that has followed me across multiple computers, operating systems, browsers, and locations. :angry2:

Is possible but be damned if I know how to fix it. And all these pop ups keep coming up while I'm typing.

You need Adaware and Spybot. Download them from Here (http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/) and here (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html)

Install, and run. They are like virus checkers, get rid of the popups and spyware.

Both free for personal use. Run regularly because spyware sneaks in even in "normal" browsing

Doubtful as iirc one of Cno6's comps is a sexy mac.

Just remember your Spanky and mine is still on holiday, so don't be flooding his inbox, k.

Sounds like it maybe a bug server side. But you'd only expect those to surface after a vB software upgrade. Think Riff was having a similar problem for a while, so maybe SM did do some patching or playing in vB before he went on holiday.

Have spybot already and I'm not sure it works cause I can run it within a minute of the last time and the same stuff is still on there. I did just get the new imunization upgrade for it tonight so that mught help a bit. Will get the other one now.

dude, yupsearch is spyware. I had that problem. I also had double underline links on alot of random words

you need adaware SE which is free from the site. or any other good adaware proggy but old adaware doesnt pick it up I think

I've been having the same problem since it came back up today (and, come to think of it, from time to time before). Try to put up a new thread... it goes slow... then either gives me a "page cannot be found" screen, or simply whites out, depending on which computer I'm using.

Then, when I try to re-post, I'm told I posted the message within the last five minutes. Which I did, but it wasn't accepted...

Since the server came back to life;

(a) I don't get any mew messages from threads I suscribed to appearing in my "In Box" as I use to.

I cannot read reps. or start of threads by hovering the cursor under them as I use to. (i.e. I have to click on the start of a new thread to see what it's about - but then of course I have to click on the 'return' (the left arrow at the top of the screen) to get back out of it. :angry2:

Apart from the site going down, I never have any problems. Is it dial-up that is a problem?

Nothing to do with dial-up with me. Got broadband at home and at work (we're on some monumental gigabit drive thing) and I'm having the same problems at both places.

My personal combination is Spyboy & Microsoft Anti Spyware. Others I know prefer Spybot & Adaware incombination (one tool rarely removes everything on a well infested machine). I've just never been a great fan of Ad-Aware since they went all corporate.

PS Alucard (or anyone else in Hamilton area) if you need PC help, just send me a PM.. I do IT support for a living so in theory I know what I'm doing

Hang on... Let me get this straight. You don't like Adaware anymore because they 'sold out', and you're using Microsoft's anti-spyware??... mwahahaha :killingme

Instead of a company which specializes in removing spyware, you're going for a company who's allowed spyware to proliferate over a decade.

Disclaimer: I don't use ANY anti-spyware, have no need. :msn-wink:

To those that are having troubles with pop-ups, redirectors etc. what browsers are you using?? Mozilla is very good at intelligently blocking urequested pop-ups, although some sites aren't displayed properly in it.

IE went from sublime to ridiculous. First it would let anything in, then blocked EVERYTHING (including items you clicked on :angry2: )

Unless you know what you are doing, anti-spyware stuff is good. A combination (whatever floats your boat) is best as nothing picks up everything...

Spyware pro is quite good, you can make it continuously monitor and also there are extra programs like Ad-watch that watch whats going to and fro
