Ok people the wheels are rolling -palms being greased -etc etc.
Heres the deal
Next track day will be taupo again -Central location etc etc
No definite date as of yet but first sunday in october is looking possible.
Format will be the same as the first one except for some fine tuning.
4 classes -A,B.C. and D grade--Fast, fast touring.Touring and novice.
15 minute sessions
Lunch ---either Catered BBQ (yes a vegi option will be available) or subway will be provided.I'll sort that in advance
Entry fee will include lunch.
Emergency braking session will be 30 minutes from start of lunch break
second (short) riders brief after lunch.
There will be 2 slow speed pillion sessions but pillions will be scrutineered gear wise.--(I bags to do that job for the lady pillions--especially the fit of leathers bit.)
because there will be 4 classes it will mean 60 entrys but it will still be on a first come first served basis. If ya snooze ya loose.
Pricing will be stepped. X dollars if ya pay in full up front X dollars plus a bit if ya deppy and pay the balance IF and only if there is room in a group suitable for you EOD will be X x 2 -A huge part of my headaches were caused by how much we could afford to spend -and that was controlled by you lot paying.
classes will give ya 3/4 hour to socialise.
Once again the marshals/officials get 2 free track sessions and lunch provided free.
Kick off will be 8 am again with first track session at 9.30
Every group will get 7 track sessions -which if ya ask those that went to the laST ONE was a shit load of riding.
I am negotiating with camellia court to get us a discount on motel rooms
From the fantastic feedback on improvements there are certain bits of fime tuning I want to take care of Including a map of the track
A map online showing where the track is
Better instructions re minor track rule changes.
latecomers scrutineering and track entry.
places on the track photographers are not allowed.
a slightly different araingement for track entry and exit.
possibly a mechanic on hand
marshalls will rotate so they get a better view of the track.
tea and coffee available all day along with bottled water
more and better available instructors.
Ohh and guys I seriously thught about reverse circuit but its too darn dangerous Im sorry.
The sweeper will be twice as fast and exiting directly towards a block wall and the pits exit.
The only left hander if stuffed up could cause you to end up flying across the track towards other guys on the next section of track

Hehe shame you said a sunday rather than a friday. Could have been on my B-day. Ohwell, Just one question has anyone ever taken a cruiser to one of these things? Admitedly I wouldn't be able to go in the fast group but maybe the one beneath it. I just want to be able to take it out and ride at higher speed than road limit without worrying some nut cager will cut me off.

If he dosen't i will, either on the TL that has brakes this time and a swing arm that moves up and down, not side to side and up and down  or by october i could be on my new bike :shifty: And hopefully i can lose some weight by then. Doubtful.
But yeah frosty you want money now???????????????
Winter track day????
Subway's a bit healthy for lunch though init? Greasy steaks mmmmmmmmm

13th April 2005, 20:32
Stuff greasy steakes... Who's gonna stand cooking them? And, some people like healthy food. Besides Subway is pretty damn tasty :msn-wink:
One question I have for the next track day: Even at the end of the day, the exit of the sweeper still looked wet / patchy. I found myself waiting until way clear of it before I accelerated again. Was it actually wet / slippery or is that the track color?

Um a question for track attire. Does it have to be a one piece suit? and what kind of boots are required. Also need to know what requirements are needed for the bike to pass inspection. Completly new at this and I may need to get some better gear before I can garantee my attendance. Currently my riding gear is a really good set of sued boots, an oversized leather jacket (had to get a large else the sleeves would be too short) and jeans.
Waylander
14th April 2005, 20:28
Doesnt have to be one piece.. but jeans wont be allowed I'm afraid.
As for suede boots.. this isnt dancing lessons.
Hey they are really good seude boots though, came through my last wreck without even a scuff. Did get pretty full of rocks tough... Hopeing to be able to get some decent leather pants and a jacket that fits sometime soon here. Once bike is fixed and money owed to parents payed back, that's next on the list.

.......well it depends on how much your ankles cost really........
If you've got really cheap ankles that you can easily replace then yeah any boots will do. But if you have a very unique pair of feet then it may pay to protect them a little more diligently.

Ok mr draken -its cut n dry. -Heres the rules
1) Bike setup/gear setup.
Bike MUST be able to pass a WOF EXCEPT RE LIGHTS AND MIRRORS. or pass scrutineering (for A RACE BIKE)
No leaking fluids.
MIRRORS must be removed or duct taped over completely.
headlights will be checked and GLASS headlights will have at least a X of duct tape on them.
Riding gear-A full face helmet good fitting with no damage into the shell.
gloves,bike boots,cudura 2 piece,leather one piece or two piece.
The onus is on YOU to make sure you pass scrutineering. If you dont and we cant get your gear or bike up to scratch then you wont be riding
Waylander
14th April 2005, 22:56
Ok mirrors are removable so no probs there. When I pulled the headlight apart there was lots of wiring inside it but when I put it back I'll find away to put most of that elsewhere so I can just remove it when on the track. Will pass WOF obviosly heh. Have a full face helmet but will try to get one that fits better (current is to big, seems I don't have a large ego after all:shifty: ) when I get some leathers. Should be sweet as then.:2thumbsup
FROSTY
15th April 2005, 08:12
personally dude Id suggest leaving the headlight in and just duct taping it over.
