View Full Version : My crashed bike

Just managed to get my bike released from the Tow Yard after my altercation with a vehicle (thanks for coming out from behind a truck and doing a U turn in front of me on th eopen road).
Han't seen it as I was taken away semi conscious, but as I got away with bad bruising and massive concussion though it might be not too badly damaged.
Looks like I was wrong, dammit I loved that bike.
Would have preferred if I had binned it through pilot error or excess speed but to be cruising along a straight country road at 100km/h (more or less) and get wiped out by someone not paying attention reaaly sucks.
So guys take it easy out there.

Some people are the ones you wanna run over! At least you are ok and no doubt the bike is repairable. You should get insurance from him for doing a u-ie
Nice colour too :2thumbsup

Good to hear you're okay though. Bikes can be replaced, people can't.

Oh, Mate!! That really sucks.:eek5:
That was a nice looking bike, but now it's more like a piece of abstract art. Not good to see at all.
You're very lucky you didn't end up looking the same!

Very saddening to see your pride & joy in that state, isn't it? That's a real bugger, mate. But, most importantly, you're in one piece and still standing.

Exactly!
Surely it would have been kinder just to say it was knackered and return a cheque or a fixed bike.

Well if the insurance companies play ball and yet get an opportunity to buy another bike then I'd look at trying to sell those pile of parts you now own. Bet there're many GSXR owners who needs parts to replace those that dropped off. ;)

Yes a big thanks to Mr Shoei for saving my head, although the lady whose head I collected with it as I went through her windscreen may not agree. fracture skull and broken nose, she's OK though and it wasn't her fault - she was the next oncoming vehicle that I landed on as flwe through the air.
Had all the usual gear for a long ride on leather trou, armoured jacket, race type boots. Only had light summer gloves but they seemed to do the job. No idea where any of that stuff is though vaguley remember the ambo lady cutting the jacket off me.... never mind the squishy bits inside survivied OK.

I was travelling South a truck was coming towards me, North, the lady who tried to kill me was following the truck quite closely. Just as the truck drew level with me she decided it would be a good time to do a U turn. As she was tucked in behind the truck I didn't even see her, and obviously she didn't look to see if the way clear. Wasn't going real quick had just turned into the road from T intersec 200m back so accelerating to terminal velocity, I mean 100km/h.

Just trying to make sense of what you said.
So your helmet head smashed right through the next oncoming vehicle?
And the broken nose and fractured skull was of the driver of the oncoming vehicle?
Ouchie.

There's another thread on here somewhere with details of Weta's crash (I refuse to call it an 'accident' and I hope the at-fault driver gets everything she deserves!) The thread really is a good read, and it still absolutely astounds me that Weta not only survived but is so relatively undamaged!
I'm glad you managed to locate your bike Weta. Last time you posted here you were still looking for it! :pinch:

Damn lucky , I wouldnt be buying a lotto , as I think you have used up all your luck and it would just be a waste of five dollars
The woman following should be ticketed for following to close and failure to stop , when a splatted biker suddenly drops out of the sky .

Good to hear you found a nice soft spot to land... You ever talk to the driver who pulled out in front of you? Did they have anything to say in their defence, or did they just let their insurance deal with it?

I haven't heard a thing from the lady who caused the crash, not a peep.
By coincidence I have a friend who knew the lady whose windscreen I went through and I rang here to check if she was OK and to say sorry for my sudden arrival.
Have been trying to track the other lady down but proving elusive. My bike wasn't insured....damn. So its up to me to try and screw her or her insurance for money.
Trying to get the right info from police has proved slow and frustrating, Officer in charge of case didn't write details onto system before going on 3 weeks leave etc. Lots of running around but hopefully will get there eventually.
Had a bit of relapse and spent 5 days in hospt with a back injury that surfaced after other swelling reduced... fun fun but still lucky.

Not exactly, went through the window, touched heads, she braked and I fell back out across bonnet and onto the road, luckily she stopped pronto before running over me eh?
Apparantely this lady although bleeding profusely and a bit concussed was great, got out and helped me, directed others etc. Big ups to her

I am just imagining arriving on this scene without knowing what had happened. There is a wrecked bike, one severely damaged car and one with the windscreen smashed in. There's a dazed biker, a woman with a broken nose and blood all over her face trying to organise things, another woman saying "He came out of nowhere! It's not my fault!" And a shocked truck driver.
How long would it take you to work out what had happened and what to do next?!

I thought the funnier picture (if there can be a funny in a situation like this) was arriving on the scene. There's a neat round whole in a car window with a pair of motorbike boots sticking out of it. Inside there are two unconscious folk. A rider (belonging to the feet) and the driver.
That's really fantastic that she helped you out though. Especially given that she was injured too. That's awesome.

Shit! That really sucks, hope you get the lady and cream her on all the money you deserve.
Hope she realize she could have killed you. Don't give up on getting the money just do all it takes to get everything you can from this.
You want money for the bike, your gear, physical damage and the money you lost on not being able to work and if you get any permanent damage you shall hold her responsible for all future costs for that also!
cheers

Don't forget "I didn't see him"!
I would hope that the silly U-Turn bitch gets charged with dangerous driving causing injury. Actually 2 charges of causing injury. This is a case of 'accidents happen because people are STUPID!"

On the 22nd September I saw your bike on the back of a towtruck/truck+trailer thing. I thought golly gosh, hope that guy is okay! I read your crash thread as well, epic man, glad you're relatively ok. Sorry about the bike though.
I'm just wondering why your bike was being moved around.

I think you're very lucky Weta and should perhaps consider a name change to Cockroach. Those suckers are nearly impossible to kill also!
Best of luck recovering costs from the woman responsible!
