Cyclist meets Stebel Nautilus, Round II

Just under a month ago I posted about using the Stebel Nautilus to "remind" a cyclist (treadlie) that he was wobbling in front of a moving cage.

It happened again...(this could easily become a habit! :devil2:)

Last night, heading down into a left turn onto a bridge. Passed a cyclist on the LH side of the road - no lights at all, BTW. Red light at intersection, so I stop, leaving room for cyclist to split up beside me on the left.

He decided to go round me on my RH side instead - fuckt if I know why...I thought he must be going to go straight ahead, not left...seemed logical at the time. BUT I watched him anyway - you never can tell...

Just as friggin' well I did. Light goes green, just as he cuts across in front of the wagon. As always seems to be the case, he is real close.

I did try to resist the temptation, honest! But I just couldn't...I just had to loose that Stebel again...hehehe. PAARRRRRRPPPGEDOURRATHWAY! I have never seen a treadlie accelerate so fast - I am sure he had assistance from some form of jet propulsion...and brown stains too no doubt...

Man, ya just can't beat them Stebels...aha ha hah...

One thing I admire with Italians. They are PhD qualified in the use of the horn. Something kiwi drivers lack.

I bought two, one for each side of my crash bars, only needed one under the light! :2thumbsup.......Stebel's are a fun piece of kit! :whistle:

I'm still tempted to put one on the bandit, but then when I am in a situation where I could use it I forget! Must be ole age or summat. Or maybe I should learn to keep my left thumb a little more handy to the buttony thing that makes the noisy thing work???

Had a couple of mates at Uni that rigged their old Escort up with a couple of lengths of 18 mm water pipe under the bonnet.
When confronted with the situation you describe, they pulled the bonnet release which left it engaged on the safety catch but with the ends of the pipes exposed.
Pushing a button on the dash then powered up a couple of glow plugs which ignited a pair of firework rockets in the pipes.
The rest you can imagine.

You need an event like I had. I was on my way home, and thinking about calling in at Repco to look at horns. On the way, some lady at an intersection looked straight at me, then went anyway! The feeble peep from the OEM horn just didn't cut it, so I definitely called in at Repco and bought twin Fiamms, and fitted 'em that very evening!
They have given me lots of entertainment and satisfaction since then.

They're not quite as loud as the Stebel, nor as loud as the twin Hella horns I had on the VFR750 - they were distressingly loud for anyone in close proximity. (Didn't stop a pedestrian from throwing herself in my path though...)

Trouble is, you can't get the rockets these days......oh well, just hafta make yr own.........

I love airhorns - had 3 Fiamms on a Cortina wagon, once.....it's amazing how people seem to physically pick up their vehicle and throw it out of the way, when you hit those things......

That reminds me - there was a town somewhere in Mrka (IIRC) that had speed cameras introduced. The locals were not happy, and went out nearly every night, shooting them with paintball guns until it became too expensive and annoying to keep cleaning them, and they were removed for good.
