if i wanna ship the cbr600rr from invercargill...wots the best way,how much is it going to cost me and how long is it gonna take?????theres no way im gonna ride it back so thats out of the question.........

I've heard cycletranz or biketranz (which ever it is) specialise m/c transport - as the name would suggest...

A family friend had his fully restored (and he's a perfectionist!) Moto Guzzi shippped up to AKL from Invercargill by them. Took him about 17 years to fully restore it (plus or minus a few as I'm going from memory).

Anyway, to the point...Cycletranz GUARANTEED that the bike would remain on the same truck from pickup to delivery in AKL, even across the ferry. Once it was loaded it would stay untouched until delivered.

BUT...they swapped it in Wellington to another truck, and you guessed it! They dropped it! :angry2:

I don't think words could explain how annoyed the owner was!

Just a word of caution to somehow make sure you know if it will change vehicles and who is insured for that, etc.

It was a fully enclosed furniture type truck with a tail lifter, the bike's front wheel is parked into a triangular cradle and the bike is strapped to fixings in the floor & walls. There was heaps of heavy wool packing blankets around anything that wasn't tied down or between the bike and the wall where it would otherwise touch.

I can't remember what they were charging but it was so little I failed to see how they could make money out of it. Almost to good to be true.

If you can't track them down otherwise try Lindsay at Chch motorcycles who are one of their pickup/drop-off points. 03 3492347 or 0274 386934. And as I've said before, he's one of the good guys.

Just been in Southland Honda and looked at the bike... bugger off I want it. Nah I can't afford another bike. Just talk to the guys there, I'm sure they can sort something and get it to ya... they're pretty good like that. But be quick... at that price I'm sure it won't be around for long..

I believe my FZR went down to Chch on Biketranz from Wgtn to the new owner. I was told that Biketranz were good, cheap, but friggin unreliable. However they seemed to pickup roughly when the said they would, and delivered it in a timely manner so either I happened to fluke it or they've lifted their game.

I have just had my bike shipped from Auckland to Dunedin on BiketraNZ and their service is AWESOME!!!
Owners name is Brett Bowman and his contact is 027-220-4436.
Bikes are secured with front wheel in specially designed triangle bracket, bike tied down and then packed with woolen blankets.
Very good care taken of bikes and cost was reasonable as well -- Cost me $350 inclusive from North Shore to Dunedin -- door to door.
Cant speak highly enough of this guy.
All major bike shops use him as well so I guess reputation speaks for itself.

I priced several other companies from vehicle transporters to furniture removal companies and nobody could match the price BiketraNZ offered. They are also specialists in transporting bikes so tend to have the right gear to look after your pride and joy.

Not to steal the thread from the author... but anyone know of a freight company that would ship my gz 250 to Zambia (Africa)

I have managed to get the crate from the good guys at Suzuki Colemans (well not yet have it but will get it soon)...now need to pack it in the crate and ship it to Africa.

im sure there must be someone who would have used overseas freight.... would appreciate your help.

Yeah he's great if you like getting screwed around and waiting a month to get your bike shipped.
