After several months of contemplation and indecision I have finally decided on the next round of mods to do to the 'pin.
Mostly it is this (http://www.kewlmetalstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_45_127&products_id=130)
With a front and rear set of these (http://www.kewlmetalstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_45_126&products_id=112)
annnnd (drum roll please Maestro)..
an 8 inch set of these (http://www.burleighbars.com.au/apehangers.php)
yes yes, handling blah blah, poser blah blah, "I never would" blah blah
Try to get those responses out of your system first if ya have to reply
I'm eagerly looking forward to the final result cos that will help me decide on the NEXT round (it never really finishes) which will include some paint and some engine work.
Why am I telling you all this?
Cos there's still 2 fork caps to arrive, its pissing down with rain and the bike is sitting in the shop and my impatience levels are mounting.........
KB as therapy :tui:

You'll get all the therapy you need when everything is done, then you won't need kb.
Go hard, it's your bike, and when you're done post the pics.
I've been toying with the idea of a new paint job and I'm getting all sorts of comments about how I should leave it well alone. That sort of shit makes me want to paint it even more!

Should look awesome. Don't take any notice of naysayers eh? It's your ride. I'm sure some thing my bike looked better before I made some changes. But who cares, I think it looks friggin awesome lol.

The work you've started doing on your bike, Rosie, IS awesome.
I wish I had half your skill and then I could do some of my stuff myself instead of sitting around waiting for it to happen

Cool lookin' mods. I like the look of apebars but my arms can't do the long rides with them.

Go for it.
Mods are good - the factory bike is designed to appeal to the masses and meet global regulations - this leaves plenty of room to personalise ones beast.
I was on a Kawasaki forum a few years back and there was this guy who could/would not believe an aftermarket paint job could be as good or better than stock ....... there was no way you could change his mind, to the point where he was kicked off as any mention of a repaint in a thread was bombarded with his anal comments.
Just proves my point that we are all different and should mod away :woohoo:

The day approaches. I pick up my bike tomorrow, finally.
In the end the 8 inch apes were sacrificed for a new rear tyre required to get a WOF ($579!!) but the existing Ness fly bars seem to follow the flow of the bike pretty well.
It's been a bit of a drama for the dealer fitting all the gear. With Victorys still being relatively scarce on the ground everytime one of us comes up with a new set of mods he's starting from scratch and learning as we go.
F'rinstance - fitting the new indicators blew out the ACM (Auto Cancel Module) - there's $640 right there. The brackets for the front indicators that came with the kit dont' fit very nicely and it took 3 full days to fit everything istead of the recommended 6 - 8 hours.
BUT - no charge for the replacement ACM, it's all part of the learning curve he says, the mechanic sourced and modded some other brackets that fit much better and look 1000 time better as well PLUS the labour is going to be scaled back to reflect the time it would have taken had they known all the steps in the process from the get-go.
Let's hear it for Silver Fern Imports!!
Can't ask for more than that!!
I saw the bike tonight and she looks like a million dollars, now all I need is for the weather to start co-operating.
Pics to follow when the sun comes back

Sounds like the victorys are a bit like harleys in that respect. I moved my indicators and was going to replace them with after market ones at the same time. But the genuine HD indicators are quite different from the aftermarket ones and the ones I wanted wouldn't work with the stock brackets. Put them in the too hard basket for now but may have a go down the track. Busy choosing my custom paint job at the moment which is very exciting.

I'm not allowed to talk about paint at the moment ..... give it a few months.
On the bright side the dealer and his mechanic spent 21 hour on this job and only charged me for 8!!
"it's all about the learning curve for the mods our customers want"

Right, memory card has been found (thats a whole story in itself...)
Good enough weather today to go for a bit of a run from Takanini to Scenic Drive and then over to Puhoi for lunch before heading home.
Finally able to take a few pics - enjoy:

Hiya. Bike looks fantastic. Trying to picture it with the apes. I think the bars that are on it look great. Was thinking about putting apes on mine, but think I will stay with the drags for a while. At least til the paint is done anyway. What's your next plans? Chopping and changing them is all the fun. Can get expensive tho :(

Thanks rosie
I'm sort of waxing and waning on the apes. The handling is a lot better than I thought it might be and I'm kinda just enjoying it for now. If I do go the ape route it will just be a small set - Burleigh Bars does an 8 inch set that would probably be the go.
As for the future, paint, replace headlight (want a round one), replace footboards for pegs, put on a stage 2 kit (another 8 - 12 horsepower) - but nothing this year. It's time to enjoy what I have

Sounds cool. Will look good with pegs. Yep, time for riding now. Plenty of time in the shit weather for changes. Hoping mine won't be down for long getting painted. Once that's done I prob won't be doing anything else for the summer either.
