may be repost but who cares!
McDonalds, Burger king, Time Zone etc... All places with ball pits in the children's play area.
One of my sons lost his watch, and was very upset. We dug and dug in those balls, trying to find his watch.
Instead, we found vomit, food, faeces, and other stuff I do not want to discuss.
I went to the manager and raised hell.. Come to find out, the ball pit is only cleaned out once a month. I have doubts that it is even done that often.
My kids will never play in another ball pit.
Some of you might not be parents, but you may have nieces, nephews, grandchildren, or friends with children.
This will pertain to you too. As I read the following, my heart sank.
I urge each and every one of you to pass this on to as many people as you can. I cannot stress how important this is!
Hi. My name is Lauren Archer, my son Kevin and I lived in Melbourne , Australia ..
On October 2nd, 1999 I took my only son to McDonald's for his 3rd birthday.
After he finished lunch, I allowed him to play in the ball pit. When he started whining later on, I asked him what was wrong, he pointed to the back of his pull-up and simply said 'Mommy, it hurts.' I couldn't find anything wrong with him at that time. I bathed him when we got home, and it was at that point when I found a welt on his left buttock.
Upon investigating, it seemed as if there was something like a splinter under
the welt.. I made an appointment to see the doctor the next day, but soon he started vomiting and shaking, then his eyes rolled back into his head.. From there, we went to the emergency room. He died later that night.
It turned out that the welt on his buttock was the tip of a hypodermic needle that had broken off inside.
The autopsy revealed that Kevin had died from a heroine overdose. The next week, the police removed the balls from the ball pit. There was rotten food, several hypodermic needles: some full, some used; knives, half-eaten candy, diapers, faeces, and the stench of urine.
Don't think it's just McDonald's either. A little boy had been playing in a ball pit @ a Burger King & started complaining of his legs hurting. He later died too. He was found to have snake bites all over his legs & buttocks. When they cleaned the ball pit they found that there was a snake's nest in the ball pit. He had suffered numerous bites from a very poisonous snake.

(........big heavy weary sigh)
Heroin is made from poppy seeds.
Poppy seeds contain MORPHINE.
Ever had a shot of Morphine after an accident or something similar? Ignoring movies (well actually the only thing war movies get right is how fast Morphine takes effect.)
10 seconds maximum.
Man if some wee nipper got even HALF a Junkie's dose into his ass, he would be dead in seconds, at the very least, in a Coma, and VERY shortly DEAD.
Just 200 mg can kill an adult (first time user), and "hard addicts" can handle up to 1800 mg at a go.............
How much would kill a little kid?
(OK, maybe Mille Elder could do 2000 mg, but she is "special"
Also, since when did Junkies take to "banking" their gear a) in syringes and b) storing those syringes in Mcdonalds?
Heroin comes as either a "block" (similar to hash), or a power.
It is then heated (with citrus juice normally), liquified, then taken intraveinously..........
The likely hood of a group of Junkies "stroring" their gear (anywhere, let alone a Mcdonalds) defies logic.
That's why they are called "JUNKIE SCUM" they score it, then take it.
The biggest piece of bullshit I have read in months.
If you believe that story, you are a drongo!

Yes, you'd be a bit misguided to believe the OP, but unconscious in five 5 seconds and dead in 10. Ummm....no. For the sake of argument, lets just work that through for a second. For a start, you are talking about the amount of heroin that would fit in the broken off needle. That's around 0.01 to 0.05 ml depending on the needle. (I am also presuming that we are talking about the ENTIRE length of the needle not just the tip as described in the OP.)
Lets presume that the average weight of a 3 year old is around 15 kg calculated as 2(age + 4). Now it's difficult to obtain dosing data for diamorphine (heroin) so lets just use morphine sulphate which will be close enough for our purposes.
A safe therapeutic dose of morphine sulphate is 0.1 to 0.2 mg per kg. That equates to 1.5 to 3.0 ml of a 1:1 mixture (which would be very strong). Or in a 10:1 mixture (which would be unrealistically strong) that's 0.15 ml to 0.30 ml. I will stress that this would only be a therapeutic dose for establishing analgesia NOT a lethal dose. You can see the amount that would fit in a needle tip is a long way below the therapeutic dose let alone a lethal dose.
Let's also consider the method of injection and mode of action. Drugs injected intramuscularly have a slow onset of action. In the case of morphine given IM, you can expect peak analgesia around 30-60 minutes after injection. Even when given IV, the peak analgesic effects take around 20 minutes to become evident. In addition, in overdose scenarios, both morphine and diamorphine cause respiratory depression. That is to say, if you take enough, eventually your drive to breathe is removed. Before that though, your drive to breathe is reduced. Once you have stopped breathing it will take some time for your heart to stop. This is not an 5-10 second process.
Leaving SS90 alone for a minute, lets consider the OP. Lets IGNORE the fact that it reads like a hoax and apply the above logic. The OP states that the child died in the emergency room. Given the mode of action outlined above, I find that hard to believe. The respiratory depressant effects of diamorphine/morphine are easily and completely reversed with naloxone. In addition, respiratory support would have been provided if the child were suffering respiratory depression. In fact, diamorphine/morphine are not toxic in an of themselves. Even in the absence of naloxone it is possible to provide artificial ventilation until the effects of the drug have subsided.

While I completely, agree that the OP is rubbish, lets keep the arguments factual. Rapid onset of analgesia from Morphine Sulphate administration is a reality but only when given IV. The effects take much longer to become apparent when given IM (injected into a muscle rather than a vein).
When MS is given IV, most patients start to feel some effects within 1-2 minutes. PEAK analgesia is achieved at around the 20 minute mark.
If he/she got half a Junkie's does into his/her behind, it would still take some time to take effect (I'm not prepared to guess how long - but it's going to be in the order of minutes not seconds). And again, Coma would be caused by respiratory depression rather than the drug itself. In this scenario immediate CPR (focussing on rescue breathing) is extremely effective. The primary risk then becoming pulmonary aspiration (stomach contents entering the lungs) which is a long term rather than immediate issue.

sure.
You obviously have a level of medical training (I have none), but I was under the impression that Morphine Sulphate is simply not "heroin" (as such)
I have indeed seen Junkies, (I have occasional contact with a few where I live) (Germany), and been unfortunate enough to see an "overdose" in the Mens toilets in a night club last year.
My experience is that Heroin takes effects in substantually less that a minute!
But, I agree, it was claimed that this was "injected intra muscularly".....:sherlock::sherlock:

Hey, just a couple of caveats: I have never administered Heroin in a medical setting (or any setting for that matter). I have never been on the receiving end of Morphine Sulphate - only the giving end.
Chemically, heroin is diamorphine. Which, as you state is not morphine sulphate. However, they are very similar and the modes of action are the same - that is to say they are both opiates and stimulate the same opiate receptors in the body.
My experience with MS has been with people in severe pain - so it probably stands to reason that if you weren't missing fingers perhaps you would feel the effects more quickly. That, however, is well outside of my gamut of knowledge.
Pharmacologically, peak effects are still around 20 minutes when given IV - having said that, 10% of the peak effect of a "junkie" dose is still going to be significant and noticeable.
This is an interesting tangent that we are headed down - but let's not let it detract from the original message: DON'T POST/FORWARD HOAX MESSAGES. :-)

blah blah blah ...
The autopsy revealed that Kevin had died from a heroine overdose. The next week, the police removed the balls from the ball pit. There was rotten food, several hypodermic needles: some full, some used; knives, half-eaten candy, diapers, faeces, and the stench of urine... blah blah blah
Oh boy, now I am embarrassed - why on earth did no one spot this until now? He didn't even die of a heroin overdose, he died of a heroine overdose. Come on, 'fess up, was it Wonder Woman or the Bionic Woman?

Because we certainly wouldn't want facts or robust debate to stand in the way of a good yelling match. :-)
you're obviously hung up on details, most could smell bullshit as soon as the thread got opened. Most closed it and walked away with little or no thoughts.
others decided to dissect it... some people like that sort of thing?!

Like I said, the OP is clearly a hoax based on the language - but the medical discussion I find interesting. Just because you don't, there's no need to go dishing out red-rep. But I guess "some people like that sort of thing". You obviously read the thread from end to end (having not just walked away with little or no thoughts) and then perhaps see it as your role to punish and correct those that chose to comment. You must lead a miserable life.
Having said all of that, this is the point that I probably should be walking away and not actually hitting reply.

When they put 4" diameter plastic balls instead of sand in them? I could be wrong though. :-)

Hard to tell from here but if your eyes are wet and leaking I'd take it as a sign of sadness.

I'm sure there have been plenty of people on here who have been sucked in by genuine sounding "alerts". Funny how people dump on each other when they've "not been as clever as me" at realising that perhaps it's a con.
Plenty of people around here who just can't help taunting; they were probably the type who picked on the fat kid, or the kid with glasses, or the kid who smelt funny at school. (Because they, naturally, were far superior).

Hell yes, I'm superior to fat smelly kids with poor eyesight.
You should be worried if your not.....Because then you would be a fat smelly kid with poor eyesight with lower then average intelligence, and who the fuck are you going to pick on?
Those damn Pakistanis, That's who.
