Went to the last round at the same place, was a bit wet at the start but turned out mint! If there is minimal rain it'll be a good day.
The track itself is natural terrain, at times technical. According to the old man it's like an "old school" motocross, no man made jumps - it's all natural. Good shit.
Heading down to the GNCC at Matata on Saturday so I'm going to have to a bit of a mission getting back up here to Auckland, at least the travelling on Sunday won't be too bad haha.
Just thought I'd get the word out there, the club run a good day. All is normally over by 3pm.
Don't miss out! Here's the link to their site; www.rmcc.co.nz

Nah it's not very long, probably just over 1km is my guess but don't hold me to that haha.
The dirt is just like most farmland but yeah, it forms up nicely. They ran a cool track layout last clubday, it was good fun.

I'd check on this. According to Ken Fells web Rodney have cancelled their day and Ken is having race day(ministry of misinformation maybe?)
Just keep an eye on Rodneys site for updates. The weather is going to turn pear shaped Friday. Good luck to the peeps heading to the GNCC. Its not pumice there. Clay, and very slippery in the wet especially through the Ucalyptus Saligna (gum tree) sections.

Well prob not die, but it will be interesting to race there as they are some pretty bare clay parts and a couple of rivers to cross. And some pretty steep down hills through a wooded bit, which is clay too I think, it will be carange:doctor:

"Softy on here"
Its a fairly wide open forum with lots of different skill levels. Remember guys and girls we were all novices at one time and as we all get older we become novices again. Hell some of us are still riding following our kiddies around the junior loops, and getting left behind doing it. So don't get personal ya wallys.
peeps in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

He was showing me his downhill technique last time I rode with him. He crashed...narrowly missing a tree and stopping on his head.
Yeah I reckon it will be a good race, it was hard and dusty last time I rode there. will be more fun wet.
Only problem is it's a bit close to the sea, hope there's no tsunami's, that would really make it interesting, good luck all!

Anyway back on topic. Matata is like any other race. Different.
It can however become challenging for the senior (Ladies and junior is OK) riders if the tracks are some of the early ones used with the black slippery gum leaves on the ground.
I remember swapping ends half a dozen times along with about 12 others on one greazy slight up hill. bloody good fun.
