I understand that the buckets will be running the Tri Oval this meeting. The argument is we are too slow and there is not enough time. I'm 6 seconds slower on my bucket than my SR500 Pre 82. 6 seconds x 6 laps 36 seconds. So at the end of the day we save 2-3 minutes including practice. Get real.

The Tri Oval is horrible, I've paid full entry fees and only get about 15 minutes of bucket racing.

You can count me out if this persists. Cheers Wallace.

Yeah, its bullshit.

Some of the guys on the buckets are doing 2min and below lap times so if its 4 laps of racing as MCI run then its all over in 8mins hardly to slow!

phoenixgtr
7th October 2009, 10:09
So are the buckets on the tri-oval while everyone else gets the full track? What a crock of shit!! I'm not going to bother then...on second thoughts, who do we need to complain to about this and will it make any difference?

Bren_chch
7th October 2009, 12:13
If you are a bucket club member then you should contact the BMRC president and make it formal. Even though the bucket class is an invited class we do cover a large number of entries and should be given an opportunity to put across our side.

Like I said its around 8mins to complete 4 full laps on a bucket so there reason for not allowing the full circuit use is total rubbish. Yet again this comes down to how they view the class.

one of the reasons why I'm now no longer a member of BEARs and don't do the winter series (amongst other very good reasons)....... Better value for money elsewhere and you are not treated like a second class citizen...... Bathurst same day, its a no brainer for me!

ok, i just had a 10min call with the bears president, he was friendly and polite.

I introduced myself and asked why the buckets can not run the full circuit.

These are EXACT QOUTES:

"the committee decided on not running the full track because of time factors, they did the calculations and it was just going to take too long."

I asked for the calculations but he didn't have them to hand and couldn't remember them.

I then explain that the faster bikes can do 2min and below and they would be across the finish line in around 8mins.

"the slower buckets would only get 2 laps before being lapped by the faster bikes and it will take to long".

Getting lapped happens in most classes. I think maybe 1 or 2 buckets would get more like 3.5 laps before being lapped.

"still, alot of guys take to long to get around the full track and if the faster ones get around in 8mins for 4 laps then the slower guys will only get under 3 laps and they wont be happy with that"

"in any case i asked the committee about which track shall we give the buckets at round 5 and it was the committees decision to run the tri-oval and we have have spoken to the bucket guys off and on the committee and they don't have a problem with how we run things"

I then explained that in most classes people get lapped, i gave the example of Neil B who on the full track will lap some of the slower pre82 bikes, but he didn't think that was relevant.

He suggested that a formal letter is made to the Bucket Club and then forwarded on to the bears committee for the 21st of this month.

I suggested to the president that the truth is something else and that the time factor is not part of the problem, its actually something else.

"the buckets are invited as a support class, they are offered 2 rounds and they turn up under those rules and conditions, running the buckets around the full track is a time factor, and its something we don't have."

I again queried these time factors and gave some more examples but we started to go around in circles.

So if your serious write a letter to the BMRC

Bren_chch
7th October 2009, 13:27
OOPS forgot:

I suggested that some people already... and there maybe more in the future that choose not to come to bears meets because they feel buckets are not taken seriously and are ignored when they wish to get a point across.

Why don't we fix this now and make it better for next year.

"thats their choice".

the end.

Thanks for that Bren.

Personally I'm just a bit miffed cause I wanted one last practice before Greymouth. I can practice going round in circles in a car park.

Perhaps we do need to complain as a group though, although I do realise theres been murmurs of leaving BEARS next year to go with a club that treats us like equals. In the end this is the last BEARS round this season.

Bren_chch
7th October 2009, 13:37
Thats not quite right. From what I understand there is no talk of leaving bears. So best we get the president to explain the association with CAMS before we all get the wrong idea. :)

Well why pay $40.00 to go around the tri-oval 12 times??

Its not to bad if you have another class to race in using the full track, but crazy if you only ride a bucket.

Buddha#81

Woooo, I can see some more people voting with there feet and not doing this round, OR any more. Motorcycling Cant has gone out of their way to give us our own class and listen to any relevent points we raise. We get a fair go with a very pofessionally run meet, ie, lap times, full days racing, good catering, on the day results, training class for beginners all for a few $'s more.

Why support a club who treat you like shit but is happy taking your money to run a meeting you are not allowed to race at?

Part of the problem may be that some long standing bucket racers prefer the Tri-oval, and the decision they made some time ago suits the BeARS club

Sorry, I should have explained myself better......

The winter series is a cash cow for the Sound Of Thunder, which Buckets will never be allowed to run at, which is understandable but........

Wellll, i'll be there. i don't mind the tri oval, especially when i had the cb125 because it is all corners. but is it not possible for them to throw another couple of laps in our direction or has that already been discussed???

I like the Tri Oval for a change and can't really see what the problem is with racing it although it suits the higher HP bikes

I'm 6 seconds slower on my bucket than my SR500 Pre 82. 6 seconds x 6 laps 36 seconds.

You aren't thrashing the SR hard enough then

BEARS club, no it won't

Not like when you told him he was a wanker at scrutineering then?

"the committee decided on not running the full track because of time factors, they did the calculations and it was just going to take too long."

Should have said if you lazy fuckers got out of bed an hour earlier there'd be plenty of time

What about running that half circuit we did last time? That was alright wasnt it?
Otherwise a 6 lap tri oval race would be ok I guess.
Hmmm wish I could do 4 laps in 8 minutes Bren! :(
And Buddha, I was counting on you having the telly in the back of your ute again! :2thumbsup

Well... what can I say, having delt with the BEARs club as a pressie I can tell you nothing will change, no one has even mentioned craming 30 buckets into turn one yet.
Ther are other choises of clubs to race buckets with now, however this issue and the motofxr thing has pulled bucket racing apart from what it used to be, BUT... this aint all a bad thing if at all as I already said it has opend lots of choices for racing, and boosted numbers.

As far as tomorow goes I will be there but only cos I need to test some bikes out before Greymouth, other wise Id proberly miss the meet aswell... but remember when the tru ovel was 1st run buckets were not of the pace they are now, and its always hard to brake a tradition specially when its the BEARs.

No worse than cramming 30 Buckets into turn 1 at Levels, everyone was trying to fix a problem that didn't exist

however this issue and the motofxr thing has pulled bucket racing apart from what it used to be, .

If this issue is the lack of the host club listening to the bucket guys complaining about a saftey issue , then yes that would possibly cause some riders to not race.

However the MotoFXR thing has not pulled bucket racing apart , it has simply added more options for bucket racers and FXR guys as well, if you are so shitty livered that you cant make yourself race at the FXR rounds thats your problem, the other 20 or 25 FXR riders dont have that problem. Cant you realise that your constant nit picking and slanted comments are having zero effect on the MotoFXR racing series. If you want to support bucket racing then Great, if you dont then you should just give up.

OHHH for fuck sakes mike... I tried my best in that post to be as resonble as possible and even said the motofxr ISENT A BAD THING... why do you think I have such a issue? it has alowed and brought a lot of fun to new riders thats GOOD.

Now I get the felling you think I have boy cotted the motofxr meets.. I HAVENT... I did the 1st we couldent aford and you try and sort a 8mth old out for a early trip like that hell we are up at 3am.

I did not do the 1st MCC at Puna due to the weather (ya ever seen me rock up to any meet in the rain?) and money... speaking of which as much as we like to race and would love to do all MCC/BEARs/CAMs meets we cant... actually FWIW we are retiring after Greymouth from racing due to personal reasons, there are more importent things we need to do and dont have long to do them in.

It probably helps that turn 1 at Levels is maybe a little slower? Hmmm, 4th gear on the FXR, 5th on Tri Oval is it, or 4th? OK, maybe its not any slower then ...

Check out the new look mylaps too, apparently the times were being updated live! All results on there. And they gave buckets a full track race to test and time just how long we took. Nice one Bears!!

I only managed one full lap of the full track. For some reason, big ass white tyres had been placed on the outside of the track coming out of the hairpin. I usually use that bit of tarmac and just clip the rumble strip coming back on line. Seems I got a bit close and managed to hit one of the tyres with the tip of my rear brake lever. Though I had broken the lever off, but had bent it right around, so the pedal pad ended up underneath the footpeg! Muzza, who was behind me came round to find the tyre rolling onto the track. Dunno how I managed to not hit my foot on it, mustve been close. I pulled in to see what had happened, shocked to see the pedal bent like it was. Oh well, managed to get it straight enough, next race Greymouth, woohoo!

That was a good day, the bucket was back in order, and went ok. It aint the fastest. but had a good time all the same.
I wonder how the time trial thing for the last bucket race turned out, and what they will decide for future meets?

yeah... it was a minter of a day aye, my bucket went well 'a' track aint that bad but christ ya thinking hard out all the time... quite enjoyed the full track race aswell, wonder what BEARs have to say reguarding the times we did... and yes I had to ask twice if the transponders were free and what ya know they even logged the times in on mylaps.

hmmmm... bloody old shiter the RD was, thanks to Yowling for getting dirty mits for me, but as you all would have noticed Ardie was on strike, and I just looked at the calander and crap only one weekend till Greymouth. Might have to wag work Friday and head to Puna (anyone keen for a few laps? think its $50?)
I have found a LC sitting in a garage and the owner is in Nelson, so what parts he wont know goes missing wont hurt him.

Hee hee, luckily it had nearly rolled all the way to the other side of the track when I saw it, couldn't work out why there wasn't anyone picking themselves up!! Had a fun day myself, actually enjoyed the tri-oval. On the full track race had some fun and games with Suzi-Q, She flew passed me heading to the end of the straight, and we then tussled our way around for the rest of the race. It was excellent. She won though:clap: Cheers Muzza
