I believe I have had seven major buzzes in my life. The first was my very first bonk. The second and third was the birth of my two children. The fourth was going solo in a glider. The fifth was watching my Grand daughter come third in her class at a NZ swim-champ meet. The sixth was sailing back from Fiji in a hurricane, (and living through the event) and the seventh was my very first start in a motorbike race.

Some of you will know what it feels like as the lights pip down from five to one and that by four throttles are wide open on thirty bikes, clutches clamouring for engagement.

Man, the energy of that moment, as massed engines scream for release, goes through you like a mighty buzz-saw. It is a quite incredible experience.

To the left and right, ahead...and sometimes behind me, although rarely, are guys and the odd gal on bikes which make mine look like the original stone wheel. At the first straight they're all over me, but not so much so in the next tight corner.

At the end of each race, given my bike is in between everything, but I have to race with the speediers, I most often come in last. But I don't care one iota. Just to have been a part of the start sequence is always enough of a buzz.

And anyway. I've booked in to be a part of the Cemetery, this coming Christmas. It's a nice 'technical' track. Not much room for the R6, R1 boys to get too far away from me.

I'm in 600 super sport so I figure I'll get lapped less than twice, :--)))

But last year, when I was there as a spectator, standing next to each start, the energy of the starters went through me like a buzz-saw and I thought, man, I just have to get a bit of this.

And so I am.

Anyone else here going to have a crack?

I asked Frosty if he'd come down and give it a go, for no other reason than it would mean I wouldn't come last....but the lil' beggar had excuses. Mumble.

I've never raced but I agree, going solo in a glider ranks up in my top ten :headbang:

Cemetary's alright, if a little slow. Actually, I hate the fucking place.

Paeroa! Now THERE's some excitment.

Have you gone solo?

Woo, but that's a brilliant buzz, huh?

How could you hate the Cemetery with all those hard things to hit if you trash, and the gazillions of chicks all watching, hoping to get a piece of a racer...Like me for example?

I figure that if I keep my helmet on (dark visor) and rip a hole in my leathers (about willy-point) then she/they will never notice that what's inside the suit is....well....Grandad. :--)))

I just hope I can't get 'done' for misrepresentation.

You sidecar bods are seriously weird folk. I watched four of you, last year, with your crew's fingers gripping under the body of the craft, and whizzing through T6? (I think) and how you didn't lose fingers on the kerb is beyond me.

But I just want to do it, man. And I'll give it every bit of spit I can.:--))

We're not weird, except for Scrivy cause he's pretty fucking unusual

Wouldn't be me with my fingers down there, Timmy tug boat (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=9890) can tell you what happens when that all goes wrong

Never any desire to race either but agree solo glider in my top ten along with first parachute jump and being at the birth of eldest child....

... and then also at the birth of the first grandchild.
