Thumbs Up for Hamilton Motorcycles

I guess I probably should post a rant as my virgin breaking post on KB but instead want to give Heath, Mike & the guys at Hamilton Motorcycle Centre a big tumbs up.

Having recently emailed them to ask whether they knew whether the 2nd hand KLR650 I bought off them had a history of burning oil (apparently some of the early KL650E's had a bit of a 'problem' with the piston ring design...) I got a reply saying effectively "we've been onto Kawasaki and got some new rings for your bike".

So, less than a week later, new (different part #) rings are in the bike and all is looking good again.

Very impressed with their support and service, especially considering the bike is just over 2yrs old and has got 17k on it.

Good on you - he's a top bloke! When I was sorting out what my next bike is to be, Heath went out of his way to assist. Of course he stood a good chance of making a sale, but it was his low key yet helpful approach that impressed me. No pressure on me whatsoever. I'll be back down there this week for an extended test of the Street Triple if I can arrange it in time.

Last time I went it was to try and buy a clutch lever for a bimota, brembo part so same as alot of ducatis for which they had the agency. At first the guy didn't want to know as they didn't sell bimotas pointed out it was the same as a 9something they had sitting there grudgingly he had a look and then suddenly became excited as he had one in stock. Sadly I wasn't as exciteted at the $140 price tag, asked him if he could get a pattern part from eurobike and was emphatically told no they didn't stock them, the one he had in stock was my only option and I should consider myself bloody lucky to be offered that. Didn't sound right to me that a pattern one wasn't an option so went across the road to Boyd's, John had one in from Eurobike the next moring for me total cost $50.00. Haven't bothered going back since.

I have mixed feelings about them. Sometimes they are bloody arrogant other times they are extremely helpful. But they have had to put up with me (im a bit retarded at times :)) so they are in my good books for now.

Heath is a very good salesman. Lets the brand/s do the selling for him, and gives advice/opinions when requested. This may seem "aloof" to some, but he is a genuine enthusiast that rides to work most days.
Spare parts have had a bit of a reshuffle lately, so might have trodden on a few toes accidentally.
Hamilton m/cycles markets itself as "The BIg Bike Shop". Concentrating on highend product, which is quite different from Boyds, that is more middle market, with a huge apparel sales angle. Both very good shops, just working different angles of the market.MHO

I have visited Hamilton Motorcycles a few times when I have been in that neck of the woods and have always found them to be awesome. They offered me top $s when I was looking at trading my America on a 2nd hand Speedmaster, but alas, I waited for the new T-bird and I'm a happy chap!!

Well, I can't speak highly enough of Heath again. When I turned up to test the Street Triple last week, he gave me the keys to one with just 2km on the clock and told me to go away and have fun. An hour and a half later.....

Since then, my Blackbird has gone to a deserving home so I rang Heath and confirmed that I'd be buying the Triple. Told him that it would be a cash purchase and he sent me an email a few hours later with an offer that I couldn't refuse!

I treated him with respect and it was reciprocated - couldn't be a better arrangement. Heading down next week to pick it up and hope that it's the start of a long relationship with him and his team.
