The Wellington Tickford club and HSV club are enjoying the race at Jville club Sunday, the cossie club is even allowing hats to be worn, and banners. And $10 for 2 Jim Beams which includes entry for prizes.Club has allocated carparking for both marques to park.Be a good day, along with banter between us and them.

Ok Hour 1 complete
Photos show race pos and laps completed well its self explanatory really
First half hour i was fly out front enjoying a clear track ahead and it wasn't till i started to lap cars lap 12 onwards and there were a few hairy moments at the top of the dipper with that long left before you brake to go down the mountain. the first few laps it took me a while to work out my braking marking for splash. The first bit of damage i got was lap 16 when at Konica Bend i went to hot and slammed up the backside of my Holden Kmart racing team teammate

Shit Murph admitted it was his fault he stuffed up,wonders never amaze.Actually if a holden does win I hope it is a kiwi(other than Murph),good to see Richards,Baird.Actually wouldn't surprise to see Van Gisbergen on podium, really serious underated racer, and only 20 yrs.Going to be who treats their tyres well who will have upper hand, and with the fuel the pits can make or break.

After 3 hours and 86 laps of hard work has come unstuck with the dreaded DNF everything was going great i was on the 86th thru hell corner sweet as then up the long straight then the right and hair pin left then around the sweeping right and just over the crest going right is where something strange happened everything was fine then bang 360 spin and minor damage as the picture on the speedo shows i didn't even clip the wall then try and carry on and no drive i spend 20 minutes trying to limp it back to pits but the hill was too steep that it could get over so thus DNF i'm pretty guttered to say the least and just hope its not a sign of whats to come for Holden

Couldn't agree more. There are plenty of other events for the lesser classes and to have such brawn mixed with vehicles of lower power is simply dangerous. Turbo'd cars are another matter but I'm all for naturally aspirated engines in the touring car series and the Holden/Falcon battle is pure Down Under tradition. While I admired the Skyline's performance there's nothing like a strong V8 'on song'.
Nobody is forced to watch Bathurst, just as I don't watch drifting.

Yeah it was more interesting back then to be sure but bottom line is it's still a lot better than an afternoon of sodding cricket/golf/rugby/league/tennis that we continually get fed..

Me! Infact i'd love it if the new Nissan GTR got developed V8 supercar arse kicking machine but alas as we all know the series is far too one eyed now and the sad thing is the V8's are barely representitive of the car the supposedly are based on.
Mind you DTM is similar all be it on a higher level technologically and they seem more interesting somehow, the secret to this race this weekend is the track itself, one of the most interesting venues in which to race anything in the world.

I like the 2 brands, sure was fun with twin turbo Sierra,Nissans etc, they had the blow factor, and added interest, but if only the 2 big car makers in Aussie want to spend money and nissan and toyota can't organise a v8 to run within parameters no one can moan about it.

Avesco came up with the idea unfortunately.Probably the typical Aussie attitude with cars, cubic inch rules.I liked it back in the late 70 early 80 when was wide tyres, grunty V8(at time). Also I think the idea of ford v holden worked for most people in the changeover period, and sure the 2 v8 companies didn't like getting beaten by jappas, neither did die hard aussie fans truth known.Watching the support "gt" class of porches, sierra, ferrari, vipers for 3 hour race was boring imho, the supercars were so much faster, and exciting.

Ok, I lied about the missus' sister, she only has a brother, who I haven't shagged (yet) and one of my neighbours is a single man with ten cats, none of which I've shagged (or that neighbour) and the other neighbour has a lovely wife who I haven't shagged either; he's got two dogs (not including his missus, which would make three if the aforementioned description was over-ridden by extreme fussiness) so now that you've read this post thus far I have you ensnared in a paragraph of utter bullshit.

Hes only ever happy before a race Tony, he certainly has the skill level and pace to get passed slower cars (they aint that much slower really are they?) but choose's, for whatever reason, to make an issue out of the situation. In saying that, when he started to kick them aside in the final few laps, that was only time I shouted at the TV, he was never going to make the podium at that late stage but fuckin good to watch.
