If I could take a punt, I would say the motorcycle slowed down faster than what the truck could. If that was the case, a high-viz vest wouldn't have helped much.

I watched this on a high res mp4 and it seemed clear that the truck driver just didn't see him. The scooter was on the inside lane and close to the curb. He was too low to be seen clearly and when he actually crossed the path of the truck, the driver was unsighted. The truck was running fast with no load.

Not a nice was to go.

A warning would have been good (or maybe it would have been good if I'd seen it!) If it's a fake it worked on me

Truck was following behind him too closely. Truck drivers are usually good about keeping their distance, and i get jumpy about a car tail gating me, let alone a truck. make sure you can be seen, pump ur break lights at the tail gating car, or speed up so the truck has you in their sight then pump your break lights at them. hate tail gaters

The truck driver simply didn't see the scooter. The scooter was at fault and paid the ultimate price for trying to get ahead in the traffic. Bloody awful accident.

I don't think a high vis. vest would have made any difference. The scooter was too low.

this might work in a car (still not recomended), but good taping your brakes at 18 tonnes of truck :niceone: let us know how you get on with that:rolleyes:

Is there a mirror for this? It's been removed.
