Perhap, in Jan 2010 I will be posted to Auckland for a month. Thereafter my buddy and I plan to continue with our annual leave to discover the North and South Island in 14 days in Feb.
Hanmer Spring, Milford Sound, Fox Glacier etc etc definitely will be our destination...

And of course, now we are looking for a bike to rent.
Any info or advice are most welcome!!!

Hello from gmt +1 (Prague) while we are all at the time zone thing, I'm missing all of the great NZ riding at the moment. Jealous of you all heading in to summer - no bike until next year as already getting too cold here. :( down to 1 deg outside and its only Octobrrrrr.

Welcome to the site mate. You guys will have a ball, there's some awesome roads over here. As mentioned previously, use the search function and there's heaps of stuff on renting bikes. If you're passing through Wellington, flick me a message and we can catch up on the road.

I have spent some time in the Czech Republic.

Lots of great riding there (and I don't just mean the beautiful women).

The roads can be a bit dodgy though.

Well, its snowing now :) I guess that means summer is closer than it was yesterday and last years bikes are suddenly going to get a whole lot cheaper here... I can't wait to try the riding (Bikes - I have a beautiful woman already), here - well not so much in the Czech Republic, I'm more keen on disappearing to other countries nearby - there's too many to list really, still it will all have to be dreams for a while and hopefully the snowboarding will make up for it - it won't but I can hope eh!!
