Whats with having to donate too?

Well even tho i couldnt clearly see when at the ipetition site that it was optional to donate my signing still went through as confirmed by email notification. Still think it could be more clear that its optional to donate.

The over the top raise in ACC levees for bikers is suppose to cover the longer recovery time it takes for a biker to heal, regardless if the tin can/cage was at fault or not. Yet when I was getting a ride in a cage Wednesday from Upper Hutt to Lower Hutt. I watch a sports biker zig zag in/out of traffic at speed. This is the sort of idiot that makes these dicks in parliament rise the cost of ACC levees.

I'm pretty sure someone else would have posted this already, but just in case. There's an online petition against the levies here

"Motorcyclists of New Zealand against ACC levies"

I hope we can get something done about this

I wonder how many of these there are.

It wouild be helpful if the mods could make sure our efforts are focussed rather than repeated and diluted many times over.

Not a criticism, just a thought to help make things easier.

I may has missed it but has anyone considered launching a petition about the ACC levies, and I don't mean just the proposed increases. I mean the levies in total.

Motorised road-users of all sorts are the only group in New Zealand who pay an ACC levy over and above the normal ACC levies paid via income.

Yet motorised road-users claim just 2% of all ACC payouts.

We, the undersigned say this is demonstrably unfair, undemocratic and unprincipled, and flies in the face of the ACC 'No Fault' mandate.

We further say that no ACC levy should be attached to any motorised road-user, or his vehicle(s) because, a) such levy assumes direct consequential fault. b) such direct levy is not set against any of the 98% of ACC claimants.

We respectfully urge the Government to remove all extra ACC levies made against motorised road-users.

_______________________________

You'll appreciate that such a petition could attract millions of signatures because it includes 'all' motorised road-users who are demonstrably unfairly treated by the targeted levies, not just bikers.

Who thinks what about this idea?

Thanks for that, but there are two faults with the petition you note. First, it involves only bikers. Second it opposes only the proposed increases.

Whereas, a pan-national petition, supported by all motorised road users who are forced to pay a levy which no other sector pays, would gather a shit-load of energy.
