Well, if you weren't sure before, just sending an email to this twat confirms what an arrogant prick he is.

Just check out the difference in these two auto replies, one from the PM John Key and the other from the Minister for ACC Nick Smith:

John Key:

On behalf of the Prime Minister, Hon John Key, thank you for your email.

Please note that although email increases the speed of delivery, it may not be possible to provide you with the rapid response users of email may anticipate.

The fact that you have taken the time to write is appreciated. You can be assured that your views have been noted.

Yours sincerely

The Office of the Prime Minister

Pleasant, short and to the point, pretty much what you'd expect, now...

Nick Smith:

On behalf of Hon Dr Nick Smith thank you for your email. Your correspondence has been noted and will be recorded.

All correspondence, including email, is routed through our mail tracking process. Although e-mail increases the speed of delivery, the “behind-the-scenes” efforts of the Minister’s staff in responding to mail cannot always provide the kind of speedy response users of email may anticipate.

While the minister considers all correspondence to be important, if it is obvious that you are writing only to express a personal view your opinion will be noted but a response beyond this acknowledgement may not be sent.

Kind regards

Well of course I'm writing to express a personal opinion you fucking self important idiot! Bloody glad he's not my local MP, feel sorry for you guys down South that have him as your incumbent. Note that his staff can't even be bothered with a full signature....

To be fair, a lot of people do need reminding. Those are the people that think that something they believe is what everybody believes and is thus far more important than it really is.

Considering that these are elected representatives of the people, I think a voters personal opinion is very important.

I've had very nice replies from both John Key and Paula Bennett when I've written to them.

I think the difference in the auto-replies says a lot, actually.

Maybe the Nelson-area riders can do a protest at Nick's place.

So is email, and at least you do get an acknowledgement that someone read it (well, opened it at least). With an attitude like Smith's the letters probably end up in the bin if they express a personal opinion.....

If he wasn't, he damn well should have been....
