They dented my cc by $199. When you concider the petrol to taupo and time I don't mind paying the little bit extra.

So people paying to use the track can't open it up on the exit of corners?

Cars and high torque vehicles are restricted, bikes are not.
I have just been down there and did about 8 laps on a K9 GSX-R1000. It was wet but still seemed to be plenty of grip.
I can't wait for the dry, it is awesome with the elevation changes and blind turns.

Sadly, from the email I recieved...
No lap timing of any kind or video cameras are permitted on the bikes (or riders)
Hopefully they will let helmet cams slide (no pun intended)

Guess I'll have to wait and see - I'm riding at the media day so there will be plenty of camera action on the sidelines if nothing on board :scooter:
But handy to know no helmet cams....

Hopefully some media people can record some on-board laps for us to watch but until then this is the best video I've found to give an idea of the track.
Looks mean! Going to be great riding and great spectating by the looks.

Targa cars are going to be there on Monday, on the track, racing. Some of them are very high torque. We'll see how the track holds up eh.

The Targa session is a touring stage with speed limitations etc. Not a race stage.

Umm according to the Targa officialdom it is a SPECIAL STAGE, not a touring stage. Special stage 2 on Monday in fact, so it is race pace, although all Targa cars are limited to 200km/h if that is what you mean.
It is a fully staffed stage with medics, fire personnel, ACOC's so a touring stage it is certainly not.
Who in their right mind would tour on a race track anyway, what a waste of time and money. They have dropped Ardmore Quarry rd special stage to do this.
Prior to Hampton Downs they will be at Pukekohe Raceway, after Hampton they will be at Taupo, so a long long day doing three race circuits in one day! It has been dubbed "course day".

That is interesting because the track management told me on Tuesday that it was a touring stage. Obviously their idea of touring and mine are somewhat different.
I have the track after they are done on Monday so I will have a look to see what remnants they have left behind.

Well yes it is interesting, we shall see what happens when the cars turn up whether they go full race pace or not, maybe a communication fuck up between the two parties has occured.

What if you have a track bike that's 250+ on your restricted. I can read, I'm just asking.

On a restricted license you are only allowed to ride a 250 or smaller.
You can ride larger than a 250 if you have a MNZ race license (with appropriate race history) that allows you to ride the larger capacity bike.
Simply put, you must be licensed for the bike that you are riding and race licenses are acceptable.
An example of this is that we have a 13 and 14 year old that will be riding but they are on a MNZ race license appropriate to the bike.
I hope that this clears things up for you.
