For those who are interested to attend

There is a meeting at the Parrot and Jigger this Thursday, 7pm

The Parrot has kindly let us use thier Functions room FREE of charge (thanks Parrot and Jigger)

There will be an official agenda, posted later in this thread once I have sorted such details with other coordinators, and others who have stood up to volunteer services to this region's coordination effort

Attending will be Inspector Peter Baird, Wellington regional operations manager, who will be keen to provide us with advice and to arrange traffic control as needed for us when we do actually ride the protest rides, both locally and nationally

He is happy to provide the other regional coordinators with appropriate direct contact with his colleaugues in their area's as well, please pm me your details for each region, I will pass them onto inspector Baird

Some of you may think I am jumping the gun but let me assure you NOTHING will happen without a major consensus from the region's riders, and other national coordinators
I am merely keen to get the ball rolling, and this is the day after the BRONZ meeting, and still early enough to start planning without commiting to any one course of action

Good on ya, StoneY!

I think it's important that every region takes the initiative and gets themselves organised, rather than waiting for any 'approval' process - it's the only way we are going to do this thing fast!

I found these on the wall at work when I arrived this morning - I'm confused, the first post says this Thursday 7pm but the poster says 22nd November (I'm assuming that's a typo), and is there actually a protest ride afterward or is it just to make plans for one?

Tonights meeting at the P& J is to plan our activities, particularly the organisation and co-ordination required to receive all the incoming riders for the ride on Parliament on November 17th.

Hi all

To keep this meeting in order, I have decided on a few basic rules

7 PM sharp it starts

We KNOW this is unfair, we KNOW they lied, lets not waste precious planning time arguing what we know already

As coordinator I have final say on who gets speak/presentation time, no arguments have a VALID point to present PM me for a time slot and a basic line of what your point is -

I have arranged security with several big, sensible lads so hecklers, you WILL be hoofed out of there, no rabble rousing please

I intend to allow Mr Plod to present the Police line first, sets some basic expecttations we can then fit to with our plan

NO Alcohol in this meeting- have a beer after but NONE to be present in meeting room- NONE!!!! NO EXCEPTIONS

Genreal points for dicussion:

Timing
Plan of attack
BEHAVIOR while on this ride
Press
Spokesman- (what who why how) likely Kari but what do we have her present?

Once 'appointed presenters' have had thier say I will open the floor and welcome other speakers to have thier say
No ranting please, sane well presented arguments only
(I know im a hypocrite but tonight is important guys n gals)

Bert- the MEETING is tonight at 7pm

EDIT here:
Thanks BE for linking me to the Herald and BRONZ meeting results
Would be nice if as Welly Coordinator someone had informed me

Sorry for shouting before

lol no worries bro

StoneY
22nd October 2009, 22:35
Went very well

Kari rox
Karleen, Cherie, Lucy, peter, and Peter (lol)

Top cop presented, and was well received (see we can be sane)
The floor was open, many contributed, loads of great points covered

Cheap ferries, accommodation, routes discussed, 3 major regional meeting places tagged, timing and vehicular coordination discussed and planned (trust us were the locals) :)

Peter Baird of the Police actually suggested the final route, which makes perfect sense and as non intrusive display of good faith, goes a long way to keeping the Law onside

Here is the BIG catch

This is the one identified as our worst nightmare (and Thanks Kenny for making sure it got said well and not overlooked!!!!!)

There will be a SHITLOAD of bikers who have never ridden in a group of more then 3 or 4...and TV said 6000 bikers.......

These peeps are gonna need the ride briefing of their lives

Now I for one have not been an advocate of 'group ride' initiative etc but for once, we NEED it more than ever

I need a lead rider, (I vote for Ixion!) and a TEC we all trust, and we have to set some HARSH fuckin rules and LIVE bye them for one day of our lives

Can we do it?

We have to...no choice

Jacknz
22nd October 2009, 22:59
you're going to need a couple of megaphones for the briefings at the meeting points. either that or a small portable pa amp on the back of the cars

We can get Bike Shop vehicles to hold up as support vehicles

These are my notes - feel free to copy & distribute them to those who couldn't attend, I'm aware I may have missed some stuff. CherryB also took notes and will be sharing these.

I've got all the email addresses (still checking on a couple that bounced back) and have created a gmail account with the email address wgtnridersaccprotest@gmail.com and I'm happy to utilise this as a way to communicate with people at the meeting who aren't Kiwibiker members and/or distribute info (several people mentioned feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the posts on Kiwibiker and not being able to easily find resources as a result - not a criticism just a fact).

We’re not about “pissing off the public” but educating them and getting them on-side.
Be clear about the facts.
31st Oct. 09 is a Wellington Rally (not a protest ride) venue TBA by Ulysses (sorry didn't catch the man's name).
17th Nov. 09 is the BIKOI date:

We want a co-ordinated, safe and law abiding BIKOI.
The WCC will assist with parking
The Police would like to be informed of an approximate number of riders that will attend (StoneY will liaise with the Police)
Ensure everyone knows the rules for the BIKOI, i.e. no wheel stands, no running lights etc.
e. StoneY will liaise with (a woman whoses name I didn't get) around risk assessment measures for the BIKOI.

Visit your local MP in person and discuss your concerns.
Make pamphlets/posters/information accessible to everyone.
Involve as many riders by spreading the word!
ACC protest t-shirts can be purchased from http://www.quasimoto.co.nz/products/acc-protest-t-shirts
A suggestion made to instruct/advise riders about the BIKOI is newspaper advertising
Ms Piggy will liaise with potential contacts at Radio NZ National.
If you can offer accommodation to any out of towners attending the BIKOI on 17th Nov: please contact Mom on Kiwibiker.
If you can help out in your lunch hour handing out information pamphlets: please contact Bend-it on Kiwibiker.
