Did I hear Holmes saying he has a 600?? Wonder if he'll be joining the Bikoi? He'd make a good spokesperson, he likes to talk.

The poll is in our favour but not by much, I doubt many people would see it but it's always good to have these kinda things a landslide incase some undecided has a look at gets persuaded by the numbers.

Paul Holmes has memories of dropping a 250 scooter in his distant past so came across pretty negatively on bikes initially but as various callers raised the multiple rego's for multiple bikes issue and the free ride by sports and pushbikes he came around to likening riders' passion for their machines to his for small planes. The idea of cyclists paying ACC definitely got his support :bash:

A pretty positive bit of media for our cause overall :scooter:

Yep. There's an inherent unfairness in a system that expects motorcyclists and car drivers to subsidise their ACC cover while high risk activities like recreational light aircraft flying, skydiving, base-jumping, showjumping, mountainbiking, mountain climbing, snowboarding and so on don't have to do so. It's easy to see why it happens - registration makes it a doddle to pick on soft targets like bike riders. Yet the tens of thousands of rugby players who fill the A&E departments over the course of the season aren't expected to subsidise their ACC cover.

Fairness, despite the protestations of the pollies and the ACC hacks, has nothing to do with it. When I actually see rugby players paying a subsidising ACC levy when they sign up with the union each season, the ACC can talk about 'fairness'. Until then, they're blowing smoke up my butt.

Apparently fairness equates to 'what you can get away with'. Hopefully Mr Holmes will campaign on our behalf. Yet, surprisingly, I have my doubts.

Paul Holmes has (or did have) a light plane, a Stearman, IIRC, and he crashed it more than once. Don't know if he ever had any ACC covered injuries as a result.
