Johan's VMCC Round 6

Arriving to the track Saturday morning we were greeted with blue sky and a beautiful day, so the wet tyres that were fitted the night before had to go.

I went out in F2 practise to try out a few new things, unfortunately the bike had become very unstable under breaking. I rode back to the pit to scratch my head, tweaked a few knobs and rods, and headed out for F1 qualifying. The bike felt much more stable and I wanted to try to get a better qualifying this round.
I felt I was being held up buy two bikes and passed them under breaking into turn one, but I lost the front and low sided the bike in fourth lap.

Unfortunately the bike had too much damage to the bodywork so I had to call it a day and enjoyed watching some good racing from the side of the track instead.

So that's how VMCC winter series ended for me. A bit of a disappointment on the last day, but looking back I've had a great season and learnt a lot.

I went to the price giving at the end of the day and somehow I had collected enough points to score a third place in the LG Superbike class! The trophy looks great and will be a great memory!

I'd like to thank the following who has helped, supported and supplied to me during the season.

***My partner!***

the Motomart crew - Ducati parts, accessories and service
CKTechnical - on site suspension support, built the great Racetech front
Tyrewarmers.co.nz - great products, service and support
Cycleworks - exhaust mods and aluminium welding
the Ducati Owners Club - for their support over the year
Just fairings - race fairings
Guy's Paintshop, Newtown - bodywork
QMoto - protective gear/armour, makers of the brilliant "sps Knox Glove"
Motorad - misc accessories

Boyle Kawasaki, Newtown - misc accessories, service

Also a big thanks to guys in the pits for a great time!

And lastly, a big thanks to Victoria Motorcycle club and the crew!

cheers

Hey Johan. What a noob move crashing out of the last round:whistle:.
For what it's worth I've been impressed with how competitive you managed to be on the Ducati. I hope you can get some more track time over the summer and keep improving.

But I can call my self a racer now after the crash, no!?

I'll definitely be doing casual track days over the summer, I think that will be important, just to simply enjoy myself on the bike in a relaxed way.

cheers!

It's a bummer to crash out early in the day.
Congratulations on the LG placing, you deserve it, a very consistent performer and provided some great racing. Always good to see you at meetings.
What about the Tri-series ?

It sure was a shame to see that lovely red bike being washed down so early in the day. But well done on a great first season with the big boys, and congrats on your :third: LG trophy.

Noooo, not the mighty Duc!!!

I've been on tenterhooks wondering what happened to you ever since I tried to read between the lines on Mylaps. I tell ya they need a G-sensor on the transponder so we can tell a crash from a mechanical DNF, I reckon.

Bummer about the crash mate, but a well deserved trophy, good onya. I can honestly say the highlight of my own on again, off again year has been racing with you on the Red Terror, it's always lotsa fun.

Well done on getting 3rd place bro. It was a pretty sad sight seeing you come back to the pits all scuffed up. At least you were ok though.

And thank you all for the kind words!

See you at a track, summer will be here before we know it!

I'm still working on the bike, parts already ordered. Mostly small bits and pieces... foot peg, break lever, fairing, fortunately nothing major.

Now I have an excuse to come up with a new paint scheme as well!
