This is the second VMCC Actix winter series I have competed in and I am very pleased with my result of second place. We had a lot of problems with the bike at the start of the series, but have slowly worked through them and I think the bike is pretty well sorted apart from an issue with a loss of power occasionally. The help from 'Doohan racing' to sort the bike and my riding out, has been amazing, they have helped me out a lot.

It was an exiting end to the series with only a few points separating 2nd, 3rd and 4th before round 6 started. I was telling myself I would be happy with 3rd in the series but the closer I got to being 2nd the more I wanted it.

Qualifying.

It was a slow start to qualifying, with a new tire to be scrubbed in, I obviously wasn’t going to try for a fast lap too soon. By the time I was confident the tires were up to temp I started pushing for a good lap time but my mysterious power loss appeared until about half way through the second to last lap. I still qualified 9th which I was happy with.

Race 1.

It was a clean start to the race and I stayed wide right from the start line through to the left hander, it worked well and I gained a few places. I was right on Gareth’s tail for a few laps until we were coming through the esses and his peg hit the ground, his bike jumped all over the place, I must have got a fright or something because I ended up getting pretty unstable too. I got past him through the hairpin and I thought I was doing really well because I looked behind me on the next lap and he wasn’t there, but he actually had lunched his engine which sucks. I finished 4th with my best lap of the day at 1.32

Race 2.

The race was red flagged after a bike flipped on the start line, just in front of me, I managed to stop and go around him but it was pretty close. The race was restarted and every one got away cleanly, it was a battle between me, Tyler and Jeff for a few laps until Tyler tried going around the outside of Jeff and ended up in the grass, I got in front of Jeff for a lap but he passed me on Dunlop again. I stayed right behind him for the rest of the race but missed a couple of opportunities to get in front of him again.

The help and support from Bay Cad Services, Burrell Signs, Quality Auto Machinists, Autocycle Refinishers, Scrivy has been great. Thanks guys.
And a special thanks to the guys from Doohan Racing.

Awesome work Ryan!
You are doing very well.

Are you doing it again next year? If you do you really do have a decent chance of dominating the series.

So this mysterious power loss...

What is the bike doing when it happens and what happens when it looses power; does it stutter, drop off real quick, kind of go flat etc.. ?

i will hopfully be back next year.
the power loss is like i will roll the throttle on coming out of a corner and its just flat.

Well done Ryan. Certainly out rode me in the last two rounds.

Hope you make it to the grid next year, as to have someone to chase thats slightly faster than me is the best way to get faster myself it seems.

First thing to check is that the battery is in good condition, maybe swap it around with your brothers bike to see if that makes a difference.
