Hey all, looks like some major circumstances might dictate me to sell my bike.
Could you tell me how much it would be worth. 41000kms on the clock, new rear tyre and sprockets all round, and absolutly mint all over, not one problem, no scratches and no dings.

Bummer dude.
Breathe deeply for a couple of days before doing anything final.
Sounds like $3500-$4000 to me.

Well Feint just posted his for sale yesterday (I'm sure you've seen the thread) and was asking $5500...its a '94 with less kms but he sold it by the evening so must have got close to asking price...
Depends how much time you've got on your hands to sell it

In light of that I'd go up to $4500-$5000.
Good work wildcat!

Yeah I would tend to agree with jim.
I sold my 91 model with 24000kms on the clock on friday for $4500. I had it on trademe for ages at $5000 but I think that was too high. Advertise it for $4200ono and take $4000 or $3900. Don't get mugged if you aren't in a hurry to sell, hold out for the price you want.

It sold very fast which was very suprising. I sold it for just above $5000. You should get approx $4500 I reckon. Good luck.

Tis the wrong time of year to be selling, with winter just around the corner. Good time to be buying though, some cheap deals to be had.

ya i second dat, but 4500 would be reasonable asking price, if your in a hurry 4k should see it go out the door fairly quick.

So you'd think. But about this time last year, a this bike would have gone for $3k-$3,500. Now people are talking about $4+, even with close to 50k on the clock. That was the price for the sub 30k bikes last year.
*Mutters about it being a shit time to be a buyer*
On the bright side, I have no where near finished saving so it doesn't affect me yet. Reached the 10% mark though.... Yay me.

When I was on the search, I hated CBR prices...
... But now I'm an owner of one! I reckon sell it for $5500. Thats the average dealer price, and they seem to be able to get away with it. If not, go for 5000, then 4500, etc
What about my CBR? Low k's (21000), fairly new tyres, nasty fairing damage, will be raced...

I'll give you a dollar.
Dealers charge so much because of the assurence people seem to find in buying from a dealer. i.e like my fucked brakes, getting new ones on RB's account this week - although I recommend keeping it private.
Remeber its the dealers that inflated the 250cc prices...

Damn right. Tried to tell my Dad that it wasn't a good idea buying from the dealer, trademe would be cheaper, but no, 5500 bucks later, I have a CBR that I'm not going to get near the amount we spent when I want to up-grade and I'm afraid of hurting it cause I'll have to sell a few organs in the black market to pay for the damage
yay...

Would the ZXR's command similar money? Mine has 20K, good condition, 89'. I'm dreading having to trade it in for 2K or something ridiculous.
cheers all

You'll be fine. 250s maintain an artificially inflated price because of the learner laws. I'd sell it privately though, because the dealers will do all that tooth sucking, shaking head, grumbling about 38 owners stuff :)

from a buyers perspective (and a poor one at that):
it seems to me, that although the cbr is a good bike, it is waaay too overpriced... my budget is probably a maximum of $3000 cash. I'm hoping that with winter coming up, I might get some good deals.
Partly coz of my size, I've learnt that the gsx or zzr will be the viable options (trying to find time to have a sit-in/on) and luckily the zzr seems to be reasonably priced...
Ideally, anyone looking to tradeup, going to get screwed for dealer $2000, I'll lift the bike off your fingers for a little extra
