I need some new riding kit. It has to be leathers, and can be zip together or one piece. It has to have full armour especially knee and hip, and I would like it to be decent quality. I want to do some, um, spirited road riding, and track days. being old means I am concerned about safety etc...

I have tried on Spool and Spyke suits and the size 50 fits me really well from the crotch up, but because I am short in the leg (28 inches) the knees are in the wrong place.

I can either buy a set and get it altered (if so, by whom?...recommendations please);

or it might be worth my while getting a set made.... custom fit has to be the way to go, provided the armour and such is as good.

again, recommendations would be appreciated. South island if possible....

Thanks in advance

there is a lady up here in aucks who is brilliant at repairs and alterations to leathers, so finding someone like that would be your best bet. Try contacting kickha or dangerous they are from round your way and should know of anyone

Look offshore at getting your leathers, the likes of ebay and that can get you leathers way cheaper than here.

Simple, innit? Just get your knees moved.

Wildcat_LGF is bringing in leathers from a manufacturer in Pakistan. A few KB'ers have put orders and I think I'm the only one getting them in Chch. It was about $475 for a two piece zip together with CE armour and sliders, and a bit less for a 1 piece. The order leaves on about May 9. It's too late for you to get in this time, but he may do another order. SOOOooooo, once they're here, you can take a look at mine and see if they're worth ordering and getting altered. God I hope they're worth ordering... :confused:

You can always get custom made leathers with armour etc in them, for a reasonably good price. And they're just as good as other major brand leathers. Just dont sit round for 2 months eating pies while you wait for your two broken hands to heal then try squeezing into your leathers after 15kg has appeared from no where. Not Cool.

Have you looked at the bikes and products threads.
There's a bit about leathers in there.
