2005 VMCC CHAMPIONSHIP

This may not be Moto GP but if you want to follow your fellow KB's racing through a whole championship, well here is your chance!

Myself (Sudeep Giri - # 15) competing in F1 (Superbikes)/F2 (Supersports) and Two smoker (Chris Sucich - # 38) competing in F3 have decided to do all 6 rounds of the Victoria M/C Club Championship for this year.

Why VMCC? Well me and TS both haven't had the luxury of starting racing at an earlier age so we have to do every thing in our hands to catch up with some of the others in the field. At the moment, the VMCC Championship is going to be, the most difficult out of the other Championships around the north Island. This is because all 6 rounds are held at Manfield raceway which is the most technical track on the North Island and not only that, but these races are going to take place through out the extream conditions of the NZ winter. We will be facing freezing conditions at the track even when it is not wet and when it will be wet, the track is not very forgiving with it's rough and slippery surface. From this our aim is to come out of the championship with maximum skill gains for the ammount of time spent on the race track.

VMCC Championship Rounds

Round 1 - Sat 23rd of April - Long Circuit - 3 X 6 Laps.
Round 2 - Sunday 21st of May - Short Circuit Clockwise - 3 X 6 Laps.
Round 3 - Saturday 25th of June - Short Circuit Anti-Clockwise - 2 X 15 Laps.
Round 4 - Saturday 23rd of July - Short Circuit Clockwise - 2 X 15 Laps.
Round 5 - Saturday 20th of August - Short Circuit Anti-Clockwise - 3 X 6 Laps.
Round 6 - Saturday 24th of September - Long Circuit Clockwise - 1 X 6 Laps & 1 X 30 mins.

Keeping track of us

Following the races has never been easier, with the help of transponders. Unlike the AMCC and PMCC races, transponders are used for all VMCC rounds. All you have to do is go to http://www.mylaps.com (http://www.mylaps.com/) after a race day and all the info you need will be there in black and white. Accurate lap times per race and all the placings per race, per round will be shown on this website and kept for future references.

Many thanks in advance for taking interest in our racing and I hope we'll see you down there at the track if you can make it. If you can't make it, we will put the racing action into words to the best of our ability in our race reports, after the event.

Regards, Sudeep Giri.

Note

- This thread has been made into a "Sticky thread", which means it'll always remain at the top of the racing threads for easier reference for the future.
- Any further information about Vic M/C Club itself can be gained from their official website (http://www.vicclub.co.nz/).

I hope to be raceing in the Streetstock class. Still a little doughtful about if my motor is up to the task tho.

My piston/rings arrived just today. Have got them in the bike and started it ok. But my barrell is SO scratched. I had to sand it back a bit, may have worn through the electrolisis coating. So won't be supprized if it seizes again. :disapint:

I have also entered in F3, just to give myself more time to learn the track.

Well done guys!

If i knew there was this much interest in KB'ers going all the way down for every race i might have thought twice about this weekend...

Too late now, stuck with AMCC round.... Although i might try to do round 2 onwards with yahs, having only been there once, about 2 years ago ill want a trackday the day before to at least become familiar with the track.

Anyways will keep an eye on that site, thanks for posting it!

Mike Smith and I will be heading down and should be doing all the rounds (not gonna be at round 2 as it clashes with the Auckland Club round at Taupo).

Good luck Sudeep & Chris & other KBers, it's an awesome series and if you get a chance head along for a look or a race.

We're heading back to Auckland on Saturday night so we can get along to the AMCC round at Puke on the Sunday so see any of you who make it there.

Ha ha. Not this time man. My bank account says: "Please, no more! No more!", while it continiously gets raped by the bike shops. Poor account needs some time to recover, so one race day after another really is a bit much for it.

Awesome day, my best track-day yet. Gave the RG500 a decent work out in some distinguished company in the clubmans class. I chased sparky-bills on the mighty 900 Duke and even held out johnboy for one session, although he was quick to point out "If there had of been more laps..." I've never heard that one before, besides, johnboy should be applauded for seriously chasing 19 year olds... HA!

Anyone know who was taking the pics on the hairpin?

Thanks to the organisers, helpers and competitors.

Last track day I got 1 lap in before my rotor fell of. :brick:

This time I got 3 laps in! Things are improving.

Seized it big time at the end of the front straight in Pratice.
But then,, I knew that would happen. Just had no money to get it right. :crybaby:
So much for being a contender this year. :spudguita :disapint: :bye:

PS. Have the motor apart now. Starting to wonder if it was more a detonation problem again. Piston is cratered. Alloy splated everywhere.
The areas I sanded don't look any worse.
I did 100km of run in/testing on this motor before race day. Checking the spark plug frequently for signs of detonation. But,, Thats not race conditions is it.
Bit more 'Learn as you Go' needed I think. :(

I was down there as well. I was helping two buddies out. they were racing in the F1/superbike rounds. sean was on the silver R1 and got 8th, 7th and 6th in the races. Anthony got 7th, 6th and 4th in the same races. not bad for a 1998 ZX9R which i just finished rebuiding a week before the race! Anthony hadn't been on the ZX9R since 2003 when the engine blew up.

We're excited and looking forward to the second round. In the meantime, I'll be doing some work on the brakes and re-jetting the carbs since they were a little too rich on the weekend.

All in all, a bloody good shakedown weekend with promising results!

I had to say i had a blast too! my black and silver beast ran well, but thought that id have a bit more staight line speed, alaramba that honda's got some bogie!!! shame you dropped her, sometimes its best to just hold back a little, thought u were running in first?

my rg has had time and money spent on her mojo, but i think that its my wieght that holdin me back, i 87kg anyone else in the class even over 80??
I have to say that the long cicut is just soo suited to the little bikes, i passed 3 guys on the MASSIVE sweeper on the outside!!
My biggest prob was groundin out both pegs and the exhuast on right handers all of them, dont mind pegs but by the second race i was through the weld on my pipe, meaning i had a good 6 inch power drainer hole. anyone have any tricks to save my pipe??

was proud to pull off a 5th 4th and 3rd.

well... i had some really good moments. and one really bad.
started the day qualifying on pole :Punk: (wicked) only to crash on the last lap of the first race going for 2nd place  .
but after abusing a VFR400 rear set and ramming it on the bike i got back on to race in the remaining races with a 6th and a 4th (respec).
however the bike will survive and after another bucket of money it will be mint again.

Was really good to catch up with TS, MR and other KB's. all in all an awesome day!!

Nearly. We were putting it together and one of the bolts on the cover snaped. I was using the correct torque settings and all. I think the previous owner was a bit ham fisted and stressed the bolts. One of the machining gurus at work is making a real nice little guide so we can drill the old one out square. :D

Should be all go by tomorrow or Wedensday. :niceone: but cutting it a bit fine I know.

Its pretty certain now. I'm not able to make it. We've been stuffed around by this crankcase getting fixed, we just can't bleed the brakes, the front tyre is stuffed despite only having like 2000ks on it, and I still wouldn't of had a fairing anyway. Ideally, if we had the crankcase, we could've sent it to the shop this week and get it sorted. Even then, we don't have the money for the tyre.

At least this way, I won't wreck the bike further and can get it ready for getting my restricted at the beginning of next month. It's a damned shame as I would've had a chance at the podium, and if I kept upright maybe even first. Next year I guess

Hopefully might still go up on the day with a few friends to watch for a while anyway :niceone:

Yay... I'm not going to make round 3. When we were taking the crankcase sidecover to get fixed, we lost a part. Have to wait 10 days untill Maidstone Yamaha get it. Hope to make round 4 I guess

Anyway... See ya there then.
