To get onto Parliaments grounds we needed to have written permission from The Speaker Of The House

I am hand delivering this letter to the senior security coordinator at Parliament, who has assured me over the phone that he WILL recive it and read it in mr Coordinators presence

It is in formal format (I have removed the header with my name address and such)

Below the astrix folks

*******************************
Dear Dr Smith

My name is Brent Hutchison

I am the Wellington Regional Coordinator for an action named BIKOI
A nationwide group of motorcyclists, organized by Kiwibiker website, have formed to ride in protest of the proposed ACC Levy’s

We humbly ask permission to be allowed on the grounds, to peacefully deliver you a petition and other information we wish to present in protest of the proposed ACC increases to road user registration charges
There will be many hundreds of participants on this BIKOI action, and we come in peace

Coordinated convoys of peaceful motorcyclists will be leaving from North and South on the 15th to unite and arrive at Parliament on November 17th
Our route will take us along Aotea Quay, up Bunny St, to Molesworth St, and Parliament, arriving sometime around 12.30-1pm

We have established a route that’s has been planned with national and regional Police operations managers involvement, and appropriate Police escort on the final legs of the journey, Wellington’s motorways

We request your permission to enter Parliaments grounds from Molesworth St to meet with you and the ACC minister, and leave via the bottom gate (this is less intrusive on the Wellington CBD and other road users than coming in via the bottom gate)

Our visit would last for approximately one or two hours in which we hope to be able to engage with the MPs before they start proceedings at 2pm and we would wish to be gone before the evening rush hour starts, to avoid any issues with the capital cities motorists

Sincerely,
Brent Hutchison

Since when did the public need permission to enter the grounds?
Vehicles are another matter (since the tractor incident)

Good point - WE can attend but not ride into the grounds without the permision of the speaker

But had to have the letter in TODAY if we wanna take the bikes on the grounds
Otherwise Mr John Visser at the councill will arrange to 'reserve' half of molesworth street for us if need be

On ya John mate

The guy who takes deliveries at the inwards goods, handed the letter to mr Security guy, and Locky had it before I had walked back to work

(hopefully) that will be necessary as well. How much room is there on parliament grounds?
Incidently, Yungatart says she went to school with (a) John Visser...

Excellent work.

I'll be there.

Do we draw straws for the chance to ride up the steps or is there a raffle going around?

im not sure on the acual numbers that attended the cheesecutter ride, but i think there was enough street parking for all that attended, with very few using the footpath.

Be great to get Shane Ardern ride a tractor up the steps again, maybe ask him to do so on a 4x4,don't think his boss would think it is a good idea now though, funny how things change.

Think we probably going to need both if we can get it. Parliament Grounds and overflow out into Molesworth Street
