Peter Mac rang me with a heads-up
He was granted permission for his Ulysses club to enter and gather on Parliament grounds for one hour on Saturday 31 October
I will confirm exact details
Please note:
This is Ulysses action, NOT BIKEOI
But they have invited us to attend
Remember its their gig, please respect that
As we leave we can have the chance to say "that was just Wellington Ulysses and friends mate...on the 17th, the Nation arrives"
:)

Please read the email below that has been sent to me from Ulysses via wgtnridersaccprotest@gmail.com to pass on.

Hi All,
I will be the main contact person with regard to the Wellington protest - please ensure that any arrangements, posters are OK'ed before going out.
We have permission to gather in Parliament grounds by the Seddon Memorial between 12 and 1pm on Saturday 31st October. We are encouraging people to gather at that time for general discussion and have some key speeches about 12.30 - 1.00pm No bikes are allowed into Parliament grounds nor are we allowed on the main steps. I will be talking to Parliament security about the arrangements there and also to the Council about coning off some of Molesworth St for parking.
It is important that we advertise this as a meeting - there will be no mass ride through Wellington - clubs and individuals should organise themselves to get to the meeting and away again after with the minimum amount of disruption..
We need 3-4 spokespeople - please contact me about this. Also we are intending to invite local MPs to attend. I will asking Annette King - please advise if you are able to get others to attend .
This should not be a charity focused event - this will detract from our main message about ACC. People need to know the reasons for our protest not have those reasons diluted by asking for money or donations no matter how worthy the cause.
If you have contacts with bike shops etc - please use them to spread the word. Otherwise word of mouth to other riders and we wil get posters etc in full swing by Tuesday
I am happy to organise a meeting of the main players on the next few days. Please get in contact directly
Regards,
Peter McIntosh,
National President,

Can this be locked so that there is no discussion or comments afterwards?
It's information that I felt was important to be a lone thread. Hope it's not a repeat from elsewhere, if so feel free to delete it or get me to do so.

I think it would not suit Peter to have many large groups arrive, more a filter in as individual and smaller groups
Its a meeting, not a mass ride
But that's just my interpenetration please dont take it as Ulysses stance, just how I read his invite
Heres an idea
IS it worth us having a whip around, to get Ixion down to Welly to make a presentation for BRONZ on 31st oct, or just save that for Nov 17th?

My personal view is save the wonders of Ixion until the 17th Nov, cos the 31st Oct is a regional protest - which just happens to be at Parliament.

Yep - good call. Your average punter might see it as whinging rather than protesting otherwise IMHO.

there are a number of ppl who can not make the 17th ride so this is a great opportunity for those to take part in a rally of some description .. numbers will help any cause .. 500 bikes turning out in Nelson was great.
we will be riding down fr levin & could easily be a fair number, however with traffic & learner/slow/250 riders its likely there will be several groups riding down
personally I am happy to attend next weekend along with the 17th as I feel strongly about delivering this message .. so another other protest rides close to my area I will be attending .. Numbers help the cause .. IMHO its not about us & them, its about bikers supporting each other to get the message across.

I will be attending the Ulysses 'meeting' in Auckland on the 31st for the same reasons. It doesn't dilute the message, it strengthens it.
