I've done the conversion to gsxr250 wheels, spaced them out, fit them in, and they run not to bad.
One problem, came into the pits, checked the pads...only the pads are on the rotor, it doesn't fit so well. This is very strange because my brother's rotor fits fine.
I have 2 of these rotors, and was wondering if anyone has the slightly bigger type or knows where to get one.
The other question was is there a good type of pad to put in the front brakes?
Last-is it worth getting a braided front line?

Action have a couple hanging up in the rafters, about $100 each. Got one today as I was about to have the same problem s you. Take one of your disks in and match up the mounting holes. Outside diameter needs to be 290mm. The one I got came off a GSX600F if that helps. Seems to line up.
Have to get the wheels machined down yet, next weekends job.

I'm still spending the cash I saved on the bike buy price. Disks cost about as much as the wheels. About done now.
I did get two so if you get stuck yell out and swipe my spare for the 2 hour.
Spent the day in the garage changing the forks over and taking away extraneous crap like the dash, starter motor and enough wiring to reach from here to Melbourne.
Glasswork from Hazzard should turn up next week. Not sure I'll be able to paint it before the next race but getting it going is more important than making it pretty anyway.

thanks for that, i'll go see him on tuesday and grab one.
sounds like it's all go!
you doing anything to the engine at this stage?
what glass kits are coming?
don't forget to take heaps of photos.
great bike for that price. the forks make it like new now?

Getting the same unit and numberboard you have.
Going to leave the engine for now. Will check the valve clearances and leave it at that. Probably look at a GN carb once the budget has recovered. About the only thing left to do is hang the mufler under the bike, be a test of my non existent welding skills.
Where did you stash the rec/reg and CDI? Not sure how much they'll get in the way with the new seat and imagine I'll be cutting the brackets off and stashing them under the seat somewhere.

just be carefull you don't hang it out the side to much...some dickhead's already done that. not so clever.
i'm not sure how much wiring you'll have left. you pulling it completely down the the essentials? if so they'll have no trouble fitting under the seat into the black recess. where the battery went. it fit really well. it was a bit of luck getting the wiring done.
if you're going to get a carb, get one from newmanz rc direct. only a little bit of fucking around with the twin cable, but a splitter from atomic. and a manifold adaptor. get it tuned on the dyno. a little bit extra, but for all the money invested in it, it's not much to ensure proper running throughout the rev range.

All thats left is the ignition switch (mainly so I don't lose the key for the gas tank), kill swict, rec/reg, coil, CDI and the 6 odd wires needed to hang it all together. The black box that the battery went in is on the pile of spare bits so I might just cut the brackets off and weld them on somewhere different. Your rec/reg isn't getting hot not bolted to a large lump of steel? Mind you with everything else gone there should be sod all current draw anyway.

the igniter is mounted to the bottom of one of my seat brackets which go horizontally across the frame. it's above the wiring that's in the box and i think it gets a fair bit of air. plus like you said it's on the frame-must dissipate the heat that way too.
pretty crazy how much bloody wiring comes out just for a little bike aye.
if you get stuck with anything on the exhaust let me know i have a bender, mig etc at work. and anything else to do with mounting the fairings i can send you a photo if it's any help.

Should be OK. Going to butcher the stock exhaust as per the FXR site. Same as John has done. Have a hobby MIG welder in the garage that should do the job, otherwise I've got a mate with access to stuff. Wouldn't be as much fun if there wasn't some guesswork involved.
