A UK tourist’s carelessly parked motorcycle caused a major security alert at one of Thailand’s major airports. When staff noticed that the bike had been left there for ‘several days’ (SEVERAL DAYS!), it was assumed it was probably a vehicle bomb and a security alert was put into action.
However, checks at the Vehicle Registration Office traced the owner, a Mr Achawit. It then transpired that Achawit had loaned the bike to a local English teacher from the UK. The teacher, who has only been identified as ‘Greg’ has since apologised to police and airport authorities.
