Well since manfield Rd 5 its been pretty mad on the race front........ so this is a "brief" of whats happened since (as i have been workin flat stick)
King of ruapuna Rd 1.
I was official pit bitch again . Pete & Ants were riding
It was one of those days with the weather........ dry track - wet track - dry track etc etc etc.
having no spare rims for the SV meant i was on tyre changing duties. We got it right 90% of the day.
pete took top 3 finishes in clubmans which should see him running 2nd overall behind young Jayden Curtis( if MCC website ever posts results!!!)
He also decided to enter F3/pro twin to see how he went against similar machines........ first time out in class in the wet and he managed 4th overall and 3rd in pro-twin AWESOME STUFF. Then a 7th in pro twin in next race which was dryish. We were very pleased with that considering that he is "bottoming out" front forks into most turns (standard) however they are now at CKT and all should be good for next round.
Ants was due to ride my 675 in clubmans but due to the weather we decided a "debut" for a 15 yr old on a 675 in the wet was not the best of ideas!
He had a "bad headspace" race one............... got a lousy start and finished 14th........ we had a chat!!! told him to go for a walk and "sort his shit out"..... must have worked as he got a 6th in race two. This saw him finish 5th overall in Sportzfotoz cup and hopefully(when results posted) still leading KOC champs!!!
BEARS RD6
I was looking at a possible 2nd place in all three champs (scotty sutherland had all but wrapped up the titles) May have been different if i hadnt missed a round though?
However it was a day of gremlins. First of all the emergancy ignition lanyard fell to pieces just as i drove onto dummy grid for first race. Then developed bad brake fade problems and to cap it all bike handled like a "piece of shit" all day.
managed to only complete half of my races!!!!!!!! However got 2nd in Hinckley 3rd in Streetstock and i think 5th in F1 champs.
Before greymouth i managed to fit new lanyard switch - trace handling problem to slightly twisted fork in clamps after the tyre wall incident at manfield! Put in some different pads and bled the brakes.
Greymouth.
Bit cloudy/cold in the morning but by 10.30 the sun was shining and all set for another AWESOME day. Was on pole position for first BEARS race with Dan Ormsby - Scott Sutherland (both 675) & Lee Munro 999 alongside.
Had decided to run really tall gearing to allow 2nd in corners without losing too many revs. Not a good plan it just stood on the back wheel off the startline and wouldn,t pull hard enough out of turns. Got a 3rd in first BEARS race - got pushed up a side street in F1 in turn 1 on first lap. started towards the back in F Greymouth.
*my brake problems reappeared and i lost all front brakes into last turn in F1 race and almost ended up inside an open steel container in the exit road!! Turns out the hose between lever and cyl was the prob...so replaced it and 'hey presto" brakes again!
During the lunchbreak i changed the gearing much lower so i now had to use first gear in all turns (which leader Dan had been doing all morning) WOW now it didnt wheelie off the start and pulled like a frieght train out of corners. Took a couple of races to get used to it but had a blast once i was settled in.
Took 4th in BEARS race 2 and 3rd in race 3 (another couple of laps and i would have caught Lee Munro on the 999) But a 3rd place overall was not bad for the "ole buggar)
Finshed around 7th-8th in F1 and prob similar in F greymouth.
But as usual a FANTASTIC weekend
Big thanks to my sponsors and family for all their help & support
Couldn,t have done it without you guys.
So it sbike on show at BIKETOBEFEST next Sun.......then KOR RD2 following Sat. Where hopefully Ants will get to ride the 675.
