View Full Version : Not impressed with GP Honda

My current fuel tank has a massive dent in it so I have been scouting around for a replacement the last few months. After much searching I finally hit the jackpot (or so I thought) on Trademe. Mc22 tank going for $150 which is pretty darn cheap.
I put through a buy now on the thing and it turned up a few days later with an equally large dent and a rusted inside. The bastards at GP Honda in Tauranga had posted a picture of the tank which conveniently captured it's good side. They failed to mention anything about this dent and rust build up on the phone prior to the purchase.
I am not usually one for dragging peoples names through the mud but this pissed me off royally. :angry2:

Has anyone else had bad experiences with them?

I gather you have contacted them with your concern?

Yes I have and they were good about giving us a refund, but it was a waste of time and they didn't pay for freighting costs.

that sort of info should have been in the original post, not really right to slag off a company without at least telling the full story. Also did you specifically ask what condition the tank was in before you bought it? Im not saying what they did was right, but people should hear all the info so they can judge for themselves.

Fair enough comment Bogan. However one does not think to post every detail in every post and I'm not painting a one-sided picture- if people ask me a question about the situation I will reply with an honest response. We specifically rang to inquire about the tanks condition yes. The lady who answered the phone assured us it was in good shape. They lied outrightly. End of story.

Get real - it was irrelevant to her point; they were miss leading in their advert on trademe, it's good that they put things right but what a piss off, and a hassle.

... did you specifically ask what condition the tank was in before you bought it?.

they were deceptive, everyone knows they should've had a photo showing any dents or marks - it's standard practice on Trademe
Any company that is dumb enough to do something like that deserves to be slagged off in public

Why do people always jump to their defense?
simple rule; treat customers with respect and do the right thing, or you'll get a bad reputation.

It was definetly relevant, they sold her a shit product, but they did provide a refund, thus redeeming themselves somewhat. Personally I reckon you should have a good go at them for the postage cost too, before you send the tank back. I agree it was deceptive advertising, and we can only hope the employee that did it got a stern talking to. People always jump to thier defense as this makes sure the whole story gets told.

They gave shit service - regardless of partly putting it right - it was shit service

Absolutely. They intentionally deceived the buyer and the buyer suffered a loss of both time and money as a result. I would demand the freight back as well.

Trademe.

Anything like that with only one photo - ask for more images.

My favourites are: Mint bike, great runner with 10 photos of the right side only ............ ask the question, "please post pictures of the left side". No response, ask again. By the end of the auction 10 unanswered questions ....

In your case IMO the seller should have refunded the cost of shipping as well.

To neglect to say they put the situation right is as big an omission as them neglecting to mention any defects.

Caveat emptor, buyer beware, consider it a cheap lesson.

In my dealings with them they've been open and honest, even lent me a $300 part which I subsequently returned for no charge so I have no doubt it was an honest mistake.

By the way, I don't think you've done anybody any favours with your little tanty here. They've done the honourable thing and refunded your money when they were under no obligation to do so, and you've still bagged them publicly in a misleading way (intentional or not). Next time they could well just say "Bugger ya, you'll bag us anyway".

They are very much obilgated to refund as they misrepresented their product knowingly. But you are more than welcome to your opinion SP.
