Recently a motorbike was in a serious accident caused by a car... all survive I HOPE... all will apply for ACC... A mature male with years of ACC and taxes under his belt... a father/mother to care for their child also having paid taxes & ACC...and possible the person who wasn't looking that may have caused the accident ALSO having paid ... taxes & ACC...

I hope this kind of insurance is made accessible to all insurance companies, and as a choice only, we who choose to insure ourselves should reep the privileges ... BUT just because statistics show us who claims does it not also show us who caused the accident, in turn a claim being made to their insurance company!!!

I am not saying it is... but in a certain way it is... yet we are forced by the govt to pay it... I only understand that if you loose your income that the govt steps in with ACC and pays you while you recover etc.

It is insurance in that it provides income protection and medical cover in case of a whoopsie. It differs from normal insurance in that it is not optional and we cannot decide the level of cover we want.

ACC is no form of insurance, it is a scheme designed to provide equal treatment of accidents to everyone with a no blame view, this is to remove the ongoing effect of litigation to "prove" fault.

Please never wish for privatizing as it will lead to a system like in the USA, where the only people who benefit are the lawyers.

I've had my say as a lot of riders have and will continue to pop comments until the date of a decision.

I'm pretty pissed that they can use false statements, and try and stick us in this way. RRRRRRRrrrrRRRRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!

What pisses me off more is the dickhead at ACC when it's pointed out the numbers aren't right he blindly defends them and refers to others. The bugger should man up.

But the problem now is that Nick Smith says it is and to add to the confusion he is now calling the current ACC regime a 'welfare system.'

On this score the ACC was always considered to be 'in step' with the welfare system but now that there is so much hostility to 'welfare' as a whole Smith now denigrates ACC by calling it what it is in the hope that most will accept that ACC will now be an insurance scheme.

It's a classic case of calling something that the public has hostility too in order to get their support, in this case privatisation, so as to make the change more palatable.
