I suspect this may relate to a ministerial ordered review of the new policies around sensitive claims . Don't get your hopes up.

Am I correct is hearing only 4000 signers of their petition? Surely we can get more petitioners than that.... although, I do admit, the emotional impact of being a sexual abuse victim would have a lot of impact...

Not all bad news though is it:
"The amendments will set a final date for fully funding the residual claims liabilities of 31 March 2019 for the Work and Earners’ Accounts and 30 June 2019 for the Motor Vehicle Account."
That means the levies don't need to go through the roof right? The original date set was 2014.

this is exactly why the acc cannot cut counselling. while the kids may appear to get over it, it will hit them later on down the track.

So what changes are really going to happen between 31 March and 30 June? Why not make it all on the same date. 1 April like everything else they do. The government does like its April fools jokes.

The Maori Party always said it was going to support the bill through its first reading so this is to be expected.

Government balance date is 30 June so its the 31 March date that makes less sense.

First readinbg?
Next stage is Select Committee?
Public can make submissions? or does urgency abolish that?
What is Maori Party position on bike levies. They are strangly silent. Even more silent are Labout party
Does anyone know where I can source a tumbril?
The next two weeks are going to be rather exciting. I haven't been this motivated in years. The spirit of Jock Barnes is moving upon the water. Bugger I wish I'd listened to him closer.
All we need now are some 44 gallon drums, and some policemen with linked arms.

Paris has a few lying about
A good friend Sydney Carton has been in one , a good and rather cheap form of upper class transport
As for the select committee , see the resource thread for the Committee brief ,,, the make up isn't good ( they even have a insurance expert on it )
its not a committee to see if the costs can be contained , its a see if we can privatize this puppy !
Submissions , while well needed , may be useless
A public shaming and ,,,loss of votes , may be the only way

Yeah, I know , select committee's a setup. Wasn't planning on getting much out of it. Except maybe for one little point.
Select committee, what laws relate to it? It's part of parliament , right? Under the control of the Speaker? or ordinary cops?

Doesn't the chair of the committee ( David Caygil) report to the Speaker of the house ( Lockwood Smith ...who is doing a great Job as speaker ! )

Well, personally I wish he'd shut up.
What I mean is , if some hypothetical person caused a bit of hows'y'father (NOT ME: I am totally innocent - just a sweet gentle innocent old man ) are they limited to the ordinary law? Or do they have special punitive powers. I seem to remember people being thrown into the Tower on the orders of Mr Speaker . Admittedly that was a few years ago.

No. That is just about MPs . The speaker is a dude of another colour. I need to know, if a hypothetical random , say, rode into a select committee meeting, crapped on the agenda, and done a burn out on the carpet, can they just call the cops, or do they have their own ability to clobber said hypothetical random
Do please note that this is a hypothetical random. Not me. I am just a sweet gentle innocent old man.

I will wade through and see if an older gent pushing a Tumbril can legally enter Poos hunny house
