Anyway to tell if you bike is leaking fuel when there is no visible drops?

Good Morning all

i just had a Minor Motorcycle Accident, at 8.30am in wellington today
where i went to turn to park a carpark in thorndon i was rolling slowy beside a courier post van, and he "SAW ME" but courier post gave the truck who was on the right side waiting to go into the same carpark area, to go, but the truck didnt see me - i know for fact this courier post driver was wrong to do that as he saw me. beside him.... and then BOOM crashed into the truck trying to park in the same spot so this courier post driver was a blindspot for both of us, but instead he let the truck go.. when in the first place he saw me,

anywayz nothing bad happen only a bend clutch... scratch marks on my engine still start but im worried if the bike is leaking fuel, but i cant really till if there is.....

my question is ----- is there a way to find out if you are leaking fuel without signs on visible drips?

Yep, they stink of petrol

My GSX600F was doing that, the fuel was leaking enough to smell but evaporating before it was noticeable, unless on the side stand for 3 days then a wee trickle showed in one of the intake vents

Eventually the leak got bad enough to start screwing with fairing decals (they started warping and discolouring) yet there was not enough of a 'flow' to be visible...frustrating was not the word

Common factor: seals in the fuel tap, or corosion in same fuel tap/tank mount
Perished fuel lines as well

Other than that you could have carb issues, but the others are usually easilly identifiable

What about the old put a "dip stick" into the fuel tank at night, mark where the petrol comes up to, and repeat in the morning.

I have a sneaking suspiscion that if it leaks enough to notice with your dipping method, you're going to smell it a hell of alot sooner than you'll see it.

Wave a lighter over all parts near the fuel lines at night !! Any leaks will show up in a flash !

Chances are you might have dumped a bit of gas outr the overflows but after a couple of hours back on its wheels the petrols gonna have gone most likely
