Hey everyone,
Just a bit of an update... My GSX-R600 is nearly ready for the road again (WOOHOOO!!!) But, im going to embarass myself even more and start racing in 600 Supersports... Now i want to make the debut mid this year... and it probably wont be in the Manfield Winter Series UNLESS i start doing really badly.. (which is highly likely)
SO... the help i need is, I need some race fairings for my K5, Where can i get some from and what do you recommend??? I am going to put in a Ohlins rear shock and fork springs in 2 months time, as well as a full Yoshi system (only stainless, i am poor remember)... Other than braided lines, is there anything else i should look at???
Cheers, Chris

errmmm large scale fraud to pay for it all? :)
did you mention replacing the brake discs? gixxers do have a bit of a reputation (or at least did have) for warping discs when over used or raced. I don't know about much else on the gsxr's, but my front discs changed colour for a while due to my ten lap stint out at puke last time and I suspect any more hard use under those temperatures may have changed them for the worse.
I believe MR has done his?
(just thinking about it, if you're going to braided lines, the disc upgrade may be even more important. best to do it now while you can still sell a straight pair to offset the new ones?)

Hahaha! ah well, we will see what the beast is like first and if im compatable with it (currently only seem to know how to ride hondas a bit, and lets face it, that aint f-all use to anybody!:P)
Your ZXR is as good as it needs be dude :) Im sure it will pull through. HP helps mask a riders capabilities but id like to think a superior rider will pull thru, and it aint just lap times! In the race, on the day.. anything can and will happen. :)

oh yes! Hahaha :( Jus tswitched to that GP shift upside down gearbox shit.. and all i can say is shit. my head is so not up to learning this shit backwards.. seriously having difficulty when under pressure/making overtaking moves etc my head reverts back to old style :(... im thinking could be a serious issue if i start to fuckup and go to smack down a few gears and instead go up... and dont get the engine brakeing i was depending on it could all go horribly wrong.. live and learn i guess, but argh its on the brain.

nah bro you learn quick as in the end, even start to cope with changing back in forwards in short time. I guess you just have rewire somethig inside your head, and as soon as the connections are made it will be like you have been doing it all your life!!?!

hahaha uh oh, i guess and yeah i should.
But i swear EVERYBODY says how easy it is... and i have had it since monday this week i think, and JUST CANT get used to it, going in straight line and stuf fyes, but as soon as i run a little quick up to a corner i smack it DOWN and shift up... but on the VFR i can hear when it shifts up (less noise) and down, more clonk.. and go, hey that doesnt sound rii... DOH and so i keep the clutch in and flick it up twice... by which time ive nearly run off the corner :$ ... actually happened quite bad today hooning away from my mates work... seriously.. nasty... and my back brake dont work coz disc is full and coverd in scott oiler oil :(

If you're more comfortable with street pattern use that, and tell people to get fucked! I think John Reynolds uses ordinary gear shift pattern and doesnt slow him down, there are other top riders too.

Mate just got screwed over by Just Fairings. Sold him incompatible fairings for his bike, then agreed to take them back - when he had saved enough $ for a refund. Mate called him back a fortnight later as agreed, & the dude welched on the refund.
Brian Bernard is an excellent guy to deal with.

Yeah dude, i dont have any choice, i could switch it... only the rod thingy is a different one and is too short to be flipped as the front piece has angle to it... so in short, i need a 15mm longer rod with LH thread one side to do it back to normal.. the VFR one looks perfect but i need it, so meh, no issues i just have to get my head around it.. but im sure i would be faster back to normal as i dont have to be concentrating on it... also the bottom of my foot has less feel then the top so clutchless shifts are made not so silky smooth.

You're fuckin' kidding?
I change between bikes all week, mine has an upside down pattern and I've only fucked it up once.
Me thinks you may have a learning problem Logan. Think like this.

Got an Ohlins shock (just had recondition & Titanium Yoshi system from the K1 that will both fit the K4 and got some mangled K4 fairings that some plonker crashed as well that are only a bucket of resin & a sheet of fibreglass away from being race ready.
Talk on Saturday bro.

easy way to get your head into a reversed pattern logan is to switch it on your road bike too! i reversed mine to see what it was like and its taken a while to fully get used to it but its natural now. I'm clearly not as intellectually advanced as our trashy friend though because I've lost count of how many times I've accidentally downshifted since January- and I only use the one bike!

Back in the ''good old days'' an up for up pattern was from outerspace - my BSA Bantam handbook had a warning about it's reverse shift pattern,it was abnormal. My Guzzi Stornello has a down for up pattern, but it has a heel and toe lever, the heel part is made to be used from the pillion pegs in a ''racing crouch'' but this reverses the pattern - so the bike has two shift patterns depending where you put your feet...now you'd think that woulld confuse an old fart like me eh?...but I learnt to ride bikes when different shift patterns using different feet was normal, can't catch me out mate....
So,if there were different shift patterns and levers on the otherside, how come all bikes these days are the same? Thank ''the land of the free''...in about 1970 the Yanks made it law that all bikes had to have a left shifter with an up for up pattern. They rant and rave about their freedom of choice to have a gun...but that same country removed all motorcyclists freedom of choice on where and what shift pattern their gearbox had.

Yeah dude, fully! Slow learner. Anyways cheers for the tip on above bubble/below... but like, i actually think/hope its easier on the track, dont have an issue normally, except every day this week once ive fired bike up after work ive pressed lever down into 2nd.. then heard the noise and thought.. u dick... u are so fucking dumb at this!... then looking around ot make sure nobody saw flicked the lever up 2 notches...
Bah, see this racing shit is too much technique/skill for my style!

Tell you what, give me all your bikes, and I'll get you some card, some macaroni some (non-toxic) glue, kiddy scissors, glitter etc.
Then when I'm out raceing your bikes you can be making pretty pictures in the safety of your own home!
PM me when it's convenient to pick bikes up.

Hey Chris good luck in 600 - I've been wondering about doing that too but need a bit more practice first. Will be watching your progress with interest.
Get some skid knobs too - F1 Engineering do those and lots of other goodies. Ray Clee (RCM performance) is helpful too and could help with lots of bits. I think Brian Bernard is selling Karl Morgan's K4 - has all the goodies ready to go (ohlins shocks/springs/exhaust system etc) for $15k. Might be cheaper to fix your bike for the road, sell it and buy that one?
