ACC is a frigging good deal
to a degree yes it is... but they are asking for more cutting back what you will get, when there is no need to... the scheme is working, they are not spending more than they make and they are putting money in the bank every year for the fully funed model of operating.
Honestly it makes sense ,,,NZ no money,... you crash you pay
you crash in to me with your car you pay no me... ah but its no faults. It goes against the principles of why the scheme was setup in the first place.
Ride a mobike , 16 times more likely to crash myth 1:3 more likely to make a claim with ACC not all car accidents make an ACC claim but if you are involved in a bike accident you have a 1:3 more like to make a claim. The average insurance companies would say the stats is that do more car insurance claims.
Walking in to work I pass a panel beater that does insurance jobs... and with out fail there is a new car outside it everyday thats been involved in a accident of some form.
BTW ACC is not broke... http://www.thestandard.org.nz/first-manufacture-a-crisis/ people have to realise that too, yet they just listen to and believe everything they are fed
I agree with the governments stance good for you...
its good
not really ... its not just bikers we are fighting for, its the priniples of ACC and why it was setup.

“To read Sir Owen is to understand how far we've strayed from many of the principles on which ACC was built. Like community responsibility, which goes against the idea that you should levy one section of the community more heavily than others, as proposed by the current government. Sir Owen held that as we all benefit from risky activities, we should all bear the cost equally.
People have to get out of their head that ACC is an accident insurance... its not, it never has been and should never goe down this trace.

Trust me
The whole bike market is going to collapse
this time next year you will be able to pick up a second hand Harley or Ducati for a few grand ,
Scooter may hold and vintage bikes will rise ...

The first reading went through parliament and passed with a majority of over 40.
The parliamentary debate for this bill is pretty much non-existent.
