I stumbled upon a poor young bloke on a CBR250 today at the lights
said it kept cutting out and he could not get it to go when in gear.
let me have a go i said...
it must have been in 5th gear....
got it into first and rode off....
did a few skids on the grass with it.
gave it back and told him...
he said thanks, and i pulled a 2nd gear standup away from him

Oy should'nt make light, I regularly used to stall a dirt bike when I was learning in 3rd, 4th or 5th. Far to busy s******g myself & trying to brake to change down. Many happy hours spent in a bog rocking my bike back & forth trying to find first. I was a black belt NooB.

Dumb is good enough to pass a basic handling test and then quickly become an ACC statistic.
After you explained gear change to him, did you then explain steering and cornering also?

well he pulled a second gear standup away from him (im not familiar with mfsc terminology, but it this a wheelstand im guessing) so now he has something new to try, clearly wheelieing is the obvious next step from gear selection:bleh:

Yeah, so now hes gonna go and try to do a wheelie when he hasnt got the knowledge or skills, and might end up hurting himself. You need a sign on your back with "Kids, dont try this at home" or words to that effect.

Just cos you see someone do something doesn't mean your going to try it, let alone straight away? Maybe the dude is mature enough to realise he can't yet ride for shit and will be smart enough to hold off popping wheelies till later?
All if, buts and maybes though

They think that he is going to die trying to wheelie in a carpark!
It hurts less fucking up a 160km.h wheelie then it does clipping a bus at 50! but they are KBers so they think that anything too scary for them to do is going to kill you, half here wouldnt even know what the right handle is for, let alone the space between the ears.

i used to do them when it was dead cold and take it to the redline at 6am on a winters morning.
after the gearbox stated to show signs of abuse it did not go through the gearbox so well on the back wheel
14,000 rpm in 2nd crouching.
