Did the Hampton Downs Ride Days track day today. I was lucky enough to get the day off, and there were spots left, and the weather was perfect (sunny with a nice cool breeze). :)

Awesome track. Totally different to Taupo (which I also like). I think the two compliment each other nicely.

Without further ado ('cause I'm tired out) here's the video :D:

hehe knew it'd be you that got the first one up erik.

Looks like you'll need to alternate between Taupo and HD to manage the tyre wear. HD takes out the right, Taupo the left.

Can't wait to get out there myself. Would have been there but was in Welly for work. Fingers crossed for late Nov!

You're slow on the straights Erik - but compared to the other riders looks like you got the corners sussed.

Awesome to see you finally stick it to that Ducati after he'd been out gassing you on the straights! Also taking out a fair number of Gixxer posers too!

How many km's have you got on that SV650 now? Any idea what sort of HP it's producing?

I got it at about 44,000km, it's now at about 57,000km. I used to ride it down to Taupo and the occasional weekend ride, but now it's mostly just a track bike.

I don't know what HP it's producing, but it's got a Two Brother's full exhaust system and K&N air filter, so presumably a bit more than the stock 70HP.

Nice riding mate. Where does one find out about the Hampton Downs track days, I would be keen to head out for a day.

The day I went to was run by http://www.hamptondownsridedays.co.nz/ who have exclusive commercial rights to daytime track days there, but it seems http://www.kiwitrackdays.co.nz/ are going to be running twilight sessions. Also, http://www.hondaridersclub.co.nz/ are doing a track day there in December, open to non-members.

I belive this to be wrong.

According to the HD web site the circuit is open to anybody wishing to pay the fee!?

I think that the 'exclusive rights' relates to running motorcycle trackdays as a profit making operation as opposed to clubs etc running days for members at cost price.

I didn't think so. They were a bit slower on some of the corners, but not much, I had to work to keep up.

Cheers :)

Nice video, you look very smooth.
The other riders may not be flash, but seems a bit unfair for people to comment on their riding.
We all start somewhere and they at least realise the the track is a good place to try and improve their skills.
Does anyone know who the is the photographer for the ridedays?
