Looking at a 1999>200 FXR 150 , what sort of Ks will these things typicaly do before needing engine work and what would be the damage in dollar terms when that moment happens , ?, And I guess what are some points to look for with these machines when buying second hand etc ??, Cheers -

The carbs can die on these things along with the electrics. They are fairly reliable and mine has now done over 60,000+ with a few minor mechanical issues. The needle jet has come loose causing it to die along with it blowing a fair few headlight bulbs (it lives outside). The master cylinder on mine is a bit of a bitch and I have changed it. It starts sweet as with the kick start and apart from the throttle being nasty its a great lil nike. I commute and bucket race on mine with no probs...

Mines a bucket and I haven't had it all that long but about the only thing I can say for sure is that the footpeg hanger break quite easily if you drop them.
Seem to be quite reliable little bikes, just check for the normal condition things.
