I'm looking for a 3.00 x 23 front tyre for an XL 500 S, same sized tyre was used on the XL 250s and the XR 500 & 250 A, I would prefer a new tyre, but it needs to be road legal, I may have to look into respoking a 21" rim onto the XL hub though I would rather not do this.

Nationwide accessories say they stock the cheng shin CX158 in 3.00 x 23 looks like the old trials tyre. Have a look here http://www.nwa.co.nz/product_detail.php?P_ID=182

Northern accessories have a listing for a trail wing, but say they are out of stock at the moment. Have a look here http://www.northern.co.nz/products/197-bridgestone_trail/986-bridgestone_trailwing_series_front_tyres.aspx

Speedway bikes use a 23" front. Bit more open than a trials universal pattern.
Not sure about the road legality.

Ive managed to get a near new old yokahama DOT rated tyre, this afternoon, I can't see any problems with the tyre, other than age, Though I intend riding the old girl like a Nanna.
