Being from the generation from when rock music was born,I'm kinda suprised that I have to go to the ''heavy metal'' section to find the music I listened to as a kid - when Led Zep and Deep Purple were played on the radio along with The Seekers,Kenny Rogers,Benny Hill and Garry Glitter...no wonder my tastes are still varied, like in bikes.

Most of that with a bit of Pantera, Drowningpool, Union Underground, Perfect Circle, Disturbed, Korn (the heavy stuff not the hipity hop) Motorhead, and other stuff like that. Not a true metal head though as I also listen to Everlast, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, and some rap artists.

I listen to whatever the neighbours are playing. Luckily they like metal/rock. One just got that new AC/DC compilation - good stuff for us more mature folk.
Talking of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple etc, has anyone got an album from mid '70s called "Clapton Beck and Page"?
I used to have more or less every album(round black thin thing with grooves in it that you made go round and round with a needle in the groove to get the music out) from Black Sabbath and Deep Purple but some b'stard needed them more than me.
On another topic sort of, I've been listening to the "Kiwi" radio station - 93.8 in Auckland. Personally I think they're better during the day.

Long haired bogan westie from way back late 80's, early 90's. First concert I ever went to was Metallica when they came here in '89 on the Justice tour. Most my metal record collection (them old black disc things) got destroyed by damp while in storage. The rest I lent out and never bothered getting them back.
Been out of touch with the metal scene for ages, was a competent axe-slinger in my day but haven't touched one in years.......hmmm must get my rig back someday too!! Lent it to a mate a couple years ago as it was just collecting dust.

Arrgg
METALLICA - The raddest mother fucking band around
absolutely loved them since my brothers taught me what good music was when I was about 8. Own all of their albums, love all of it for different reasons, love the hard stuff of master of puppetts and ride the lightning but really appreciate the mean rock stuff in load, the self titled black album would still have to be the greatest album ever
I guess I am more of a rock/hard rock lover than metal
love my.... megadeth, alice in chains, pearl jam, nirvana, SAVANT!! (way under rated kiwi band) perfect circle, tool etc
Driving home from work with some decent rock on the stereo is a bit like that guy on the BMW ad where it says "arrive smiling" I always arrive smiling and amp'd after listening to real music.

Live gigs..Black Sabbath at Ngaruawahia!, Led Zeppelin, Free, Pink Floyd, Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, and sundry other "dark" bands.

All my music is on my comp aswell but I can hook it up to my sterio (or however you spell it) so that A: it sounds better and B: it can be turned up much, much louder.:niceone:

I think SUPER loud music is far overrated. Just like I don't like most death metal. I think that quite a lot of it is just bland rubbish.
Just my op-onion

Lol Mostly I agree with you but for some songs when I am in a certain mood playing it loud as hell is just awsome. Love to do that when I'm weight lifting and working on my bike. No better way to give yourself heaps of energy.

Has to be loud. A good subwoofer ( without boominess ) is a must, even for metal.

early metallica is good a bit more raw than nowadays.
pantera , white zombie, pestilance , slayer, black sabbath, motor head, ac/dc, led zep, epic from faith no more is one of my favs and holy smoke from iron maiden is fucken cool.
gnr, pantera , what the fuck i like it all.
i like most genre of music since i try to play the axe.
jimi hendrix is my personal fav, people just recognise him for his guitar playing but he was a fucken good song writer too.
he was gifted but he practiced on average well so ive read in a few different books 4-6 hrs per day,
ive got a pretty broad taste but i prefer most of the mellowish rock, TooL, APC, Disturbed, NiN, Fear Factory, 8ft, Butterfy Effect, Rob Zombie, Oleander, Rammstein......oh god i could be here all nite.
In terms or nasty hard core, didnt mind the occasional Children of Bodom, Slipnot (that Scream song kicks ass), Mudvayne, the ones above, Cradle of Filth........you get the point.
Anyone heard those Tribute albums (Trib to TooL/NiN/APC)???? Or the Metallica String quartet thing (fuck that name just left my mind) - No screaming but still bloody good

Listening to Apocalyptica ATM and it's not as bad as I thought it was. Have them doing Schism by Tool (like yall needed to be told who that one is by:msn-wink: ) and Unforgven, Nothing Else Matters, Enter Sandman, Until it sleeps, and For Whom The Bell Tolls. If you need to be told what band originally wrote/sang those I would like your adress so I can come by and give you a thurough as... arse kicking.:niceone:
(edit) Also just watched thier Vid for Nothing else matters. You can certainly tell that three of them definately listen to it cause they are headbanging while playing this big fuck off cello!! (sp?)

It's a shame it's now cool to like them, you don't actually have to like their music, but you're cool if you say they're cool
Damned shame, Vermillion is a cool song
Oh yeah, Cryhavoc will soon be complaining about that comment Excal
