Tyrewarmer repair?

We burnt out 2 at Manfield.Have a look on the inside and see if there are any burn marks, then chuck them in the bin...:crybaby::crybaby:

I had the exact same set and the front warmer burned out after doing about 8 days at the track. Think it only burned out because it got a bit wet maybe. But for the price they did ok. Rear warmer is still working perfect

not sure, just plain ones with a light that goes green when they get to a certain temp...
My mates ones are the same and have lasted ages so probably just got a dogey batch or somthing.

Do they make them for a 120/160 size bike?
Mine only just fitted on the 18 inch rear the VFR has...

The age ol' issue of tyre warmers going pop....
Yes, we have those black ones that have the orange and green coloured light.

We have had a couple burn out. One rear almost wrecked the tyre, and a front went a few meetings later. Both on the 400.
Now, we try and take good care of them, but they are put on and taken off a lot when running two classes.

The 600's warmers are still all good.....

Things to watch out for:
After the warmers are turned off (make sure of that) and removed, get them rolled up and put tidily out of the way. This stops visitors standing on them when you are out racing.

Never lower the bike onto the ground when fitted.....
This can be done accidentally when you are adjusting suspension settings.

Not 100% sure what happens to them during the week when we are not racing, but this could well be a factor.... Or, even the trip in the van on the way home.
Think: Wires, minimum bend radius etc.....

Not an expert on them at all, just putting ideas out there really.

Im a spark by trade and the way to get life is fill a tube pencil case with rags and start your rolling up of the front around that then roll the rear outside it.
Its the tight turn angle of the front rolled up that will damage the sleeve on the heater wires.Electric blankets folded up during the summer will fail early in the winter.
If you chuck your warmers on the ground folded over and someone stands on them causing flat fold they have a high chance of failure.
The wiring conections from the thermo switch are very fine so pulling on the power cord or turning the wheels around while on bike can cause seperation of the heater cable.If you dont get a burn hole in warmer then this is 99% going to be the cause of failure.

I have used some motrax brand tyrewarmers for two years, they have given no problems.
They came in a a hard plastic case for storage and transport. I always hang them on something when I take them off at races and unplug them.

Well I sent the faulty warmer off to steveb of www.tyrewarmers.co.nz and he has repaired it for me. He went out of his way to do this for me AND it wasn't even one of his warmers. Stoked :Punk:
