Help please :sweatdrop

I just got a gn250 (2004) a few weeks ago but am having a little problem with the brake light. It only comes on if the rear brake is pushed alllllll the way in, and doesn't come on at all for the front.

So, just dealing with the rear brake first:
I've got an 2003 owner's manual which I assume is the same as the 2004. It says:

'Rear brake light switch is located under the right frame cover' -
Got the cover open, and trying to look at it from the same angle as the tiny grainy picture, which worrying doesn't quite match what I'm seeing. I can't see anything at all in the vicinity or somehow connected to the rear brake that looks like a brake light switch (or lever or just anything possibly relevant).

I know this is almost certainly me being a total idiot.. but could somebody supply a photo of what I'm looking for? Right now all I can think of (besides me being a total idiot of course) is that it is behind the battery?

I really can't see how you could miss it, but not having touched a GN for erm 20 years I really can't remember.

There will be a spring attached to the pedal which leads to a rod in a black piece of plastic with a thread on it. From there it should be obvious what to do.

The front can be a cow. Check the wires are plugged in to the switch under the lever. Maybe a squirt of brake clean if you have to take it apart, but take care not to drop anything. If they are really worn out the switch isn't too expensive.

there should be a spring coming from the foot brake follow that up and you should find a switch of some sort there will be a adjuster there aswell

(incase its not obvious) It can be fiddly to adjust as there isnt alot of room, but you're aiming to unscrew it (moving it upwards) to eliminate some of the slack...

Check the wires on the front, sometimes you'll be able to clean it out with contact cleaner/similar

I can see the spring and have followed it up. It goes to a wire which then goes behind the battery. I can't see anything adjustable.

Biggest noob ever

I found number 12!

But earth do you adjust that at all? I was expecting more of a box thing with a lever or switch

Nil--bring the thing to me I'll fix it for ya--the adjuster on those late model ginnys is in a bitch of a place to get fingers to.
The Issue with the front brake light is usually that one of the plugs has come off.
Itll take about 5 minutes to fix and we're open 7 days a week

My wife will make ya a cuppa whilst I sort it for ya

12 looks good. Have you lubricated it and made sure it pushes in and out freely?

Yep, finally managed to do it! Victory over the gn. Took the battery out so I could actually get my hands on the rear switch. And just fiddled around with the front one and it now works - not really sure what I did to make that happen :sweatdrop

Cheers for all your help!
