Some people are just a waste of fucking space..

Daniel and I adopted 3 kittens a while back that were all of 3-4 weeks old. Hadn't intended on keeping them all, but keep them we did all 3 of them and over the past 2 years they have happily become part of the family.

The other night one of them turned up bleeding badly from the upper hind leg. Took him to the vet to have it checked out as he was extremely uncomfortable.

Low and behold on removal of his fur, first thought was an absess which I've seen before and this certainly didn't look like the remains of one. The vet found a nice beautiful perfectly rounded hole that looked extremely bloody suspect. He sent him home with antibiotics, and gave him a vitamin b injection as he was anaemic. Told me to bring him back for an x'ray if he didn't start to pick up (vet was trying to keep the bill minimal unless necessary).

This morning he had a nibble on his biscuits, so everything was looking fine...

Low and behold he was found dead in the spare room tonight. Should've had the x-ray done yesterday and now its to late.

Why are people so fucking cruel?? Someones pet to top it off.

Would love to find out who the prick was :bash:

Fucking gutted... R.I.P little Batman

join paw justice (http://pawjustice.co.nz/) is the first thing you can do to stop this crap or at least increase penalties for the dick heads that do it.

sorry to hear about your pet.

fucking assholes. whoever did this needs to be made to feel the same pain.

325rocket... i signed a paw justice petition today on my work break. would love to join, but cant afford it right now.
i think if anyone hurt one of my animals, they had better hope they dont get caught. hell i even told my 3 year old neice off the other weekend when she was shoving my foxy around for no good reason. was really for both their benefits as i know scrap could bite if provoked enough, but fortunately, shes quite calm about things. just wouldnt like for things to go too far, plus the kids need to learn about respect for animals and plants etc. they know to be gentle with the cats, but the dogs are different story.

Ours are all scatty as they run and hide when visitors turn up. Half wild, its partially why we never tried to rehome them once they were 12 weeks old, it didn't seem fair.

Found poo's with blood in it so obviously he was bleeding internally.

Definitely way too many of these sickos popping up lately. That said even one sicko is too many, spineless pricks picking on poor defenceless animals, makes my stomach turn.

One thing wrong with that pawjustice site is that there is no online option to sign their petition. If it did I would have signed right now, and emailed the link to all my friends. Having to find a place that has the petition or downloading it and traipsing around getting signatures is going to slow things down a bit for them. Seems a bit backward in this modern age.

That said, I've downloaded it and will take it into work for more siggys...

I'm sorry, but am I missing something here?

Did the vet give any indication of what caused the "nice round hole"?

Sad news about little Batman.

Someone else referred me to pawjustice but it seems a little OTT. The main page is quite disturbing. If this was a growing problem in NZ you'd think they could find some NZ case studies? Their stated mission is a fluffy "listen and talk to pet owners". But if you donate money it funds "investigation and prosecution of animal abusers". I'm guessing proceeds from T-shirts go to the same? They're careful to say that management won't take any of your money but I wonder who the investigators are and if they get paid? Seems a bit too much like tugging on heart strings to secure a donation from emotional types.

It may be legit but for such a slick website their message is all over the place.

Edit: Oh yeah. Support SPCA all the way. I don't donate to causes I don't understand.

fair enough. i support the spca as well.
to be honest im not all that bothered if some of my donation 'goes west' as long as some of it helps the cause. anything is better then nothing i figure.

Yup, agree. So long as it goes where you think its going. Phishing is pretty sophisticated these days. Cut and paste a bunch of convincing pages together.

Google just revealed that the "case studies" were probably ripped from http://www.truecrimeinsider.com/ (http://www.truecrimeinsider.com/criminal_mind/criminal_mind.html) Copyright 2007. Reproduced by Pawjustice in 2009 with permission, I'm sure.

It does say 'proudly supported by the SPCA' and they've had a bunch of ads on TV lately. Though your comments do make one stop and think.
Maybe worthwhile contacting the SPCA and gettng their take on it for anyone dubious about the site?

He indicated that its what it looked like, but he didn't want to "jump that far ahead."

Infact I could grab a slug pellet from in mums gun cabinet and it would slot into the hole perfectly.

Very tidy, straight in, the size of a slug pellet and the cat obviously bled internally.

Maybe he got hit by a cat?

My bet would be a slug gun.

Yes, but could also be a septic rat bite.

Surely if it was a slug gun the vet would have said "Hey, I think we should try to find the pellet".

Remember the poor little bugger was only a kitten, and most modern slug guns would be powerful enough to send the slug right through.
And from the tone of the original post it sounded to me like he was fine one day and injured the next.
I could be wrong though for sure, merely conjecture and hypothesising here :sherlock:

Surely if it was a slug gun the vet would have said "Hey, I think we should try to find the pellet". Well theres vets and theres vets, somewhat similar to theres doctors and theres doctors,a mate of mine plodding about on a trials bike took on a cliff beyond his ability resulting in his kneecap seemingly appearing on the wrong side of his leg, upon finally getting someone to respond to the Emergency buzzer at the hospital we were confronted with some Indian gezzer that couldnt speak our language,he asked "@%$&" which we couldnt undertstand so through the large sliding door glass we showed him (i think) the guys obviously painful leg, more "^%^%" followed then arm waving and shrugs of the shoulders (which we understood at least)result was someone smashed the sliding door glass pressed the button and we moved on,finally only to be told that an xray had to be taken before any treatment would follow.Madness.

No, actually he was two years old (according to the original post).

Don't get me wrong - I love animals. My wife and I don't have kids and our dog (until recent times, two dogs) and two cats are our children.

I just know that I wouldn't take a cat home from the vets with a "nice round hole" in it without knowing for sure what caused that hole.

Oops, you're right....my bad, missed that on the age.

And, yes I tend to agree regarding not knowing about the cause. Perhaps the vet didn't want to go down that road in case of further upset to owner?

Anyway, regardless of this case there are definitely way too many cases of animal harm coming to light of late. Puts me off getting more pets (have had both dogs and cats) as I'm not home a lot of the time and it would worry me
especially as I live on a road that is not only near the local rugby stadium (lots of drunken loons after a game) but is also a favoured speeding road for the local boy racers. So if the sickos didn't get them the traffic probably would. :(

The mistake was putting my trust in someones judgement despite having a feeling that it may have been wrong (he's got the bit of paper doesn't he). Obviously if someone had of been home to notice the bloody poo he would have been straight back to the vet but we can't all be in two places at once. It would have made it obvious you'd think. I'd say it would be safe to assume that by that stage it would have been to late though.

On another note I could always dig around and see what I can find, don't think I could stomach it though. Or perhaps take him back and ask the vet to have a dig around for confirmation.

hugs to the whole kittie kat family, girl

This makes me sick....had 2 little ones poisoned.... both by one of the neighbour's over drenching of insecticide...my girl died in my arms & my boy survived what the vet said should have killed a large dog.

I would have no trouble belting the living fuck out of anyone of these sadistic bastards that think it's OK to hurt animals. :bash:

He told me it was a absess from him fighting (it was clean no infection and no bad smell). I told him it looked more like the cat had been shot. He said "yes it does but we won't go down that path just yet." I was told to take him home, if it didn't start to heal or the cat went downhill to bring him back for an x-ray.

Hmmm does make you wonder when it's left like that eh? Bugger...regardless, still not a good outcome. It's never nice to lose the wee fellas no matter what the cause.

No.People have lived with lead bullets from WW1 in them for 60 years.Lead doesn't react much in muscle tissue and thus does not produce its poisonous salts.
Ducks grind up pellets in their gizzard after mistaking them for stones.
