View Full Version : Auckland to Wellington for protest ride 17th Nov - Leave Monday, back Tuesday night

It just happens that I have been able to delay my business trip to Welly for the following week - Now I can do my part to fight this unjust bullshit! Some people cannot get 3 or 4 days off, so we decided to do a one (and a half) day ride instead.
What: Ride to Wellington to join the protest on the 17th Nov
When: Monday 16th - 2 different groups we will be leaving that afternoon (see next post for times/details)
Why: No need for explanation is there? Either put up and pay for increased levies or make some noise!
Who: Open to all. However, we will be riding long distances and possibly at night so not suitable for learners / less experienced riders. We will be cruising at a med pace, would prefer you could too.
Myself and Qkkid are planning to ride down to Wellywood in time for the protest on the 17th. Two groups will be leaving on the Monday (16th) with the plan to overnight in Palmerston North (as per accommodation thread). Then leave Palmerston North early morning to get to the protest assembly location (Porirua would be the best bet) to join convoy into parliament.
Plan on riding back home after protest mid-afternoon.
I know some people cannot attend the protest due to work commitments. However, how much will one day cost you in relation to a (possible) lifetime of hiked rego prices? Do the math!
Anyone want some riding company?
UPDATE

Suggest you check out THIS (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?p=1129484303&postcount=2) thread. Suggest you have a read and book your accommodation - Most of us are staying at the Gateway Hotel......
As for a meeting point? I'd say either the BP @ Ngaruawahia (approx 1.30pm) or Otorohanga (approx 2.30pm at the intersection of SH39/31 and SH3). If you wanted to join a larger group of riders and can get away from Tauranga eariler in the day I would suggest looking at THIS (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=111306) thread. These times are only indicative, could be there +/- 15mins. We won't be stopping to wait for people to turn up. If you want to join the ride, suggest you be at your meeting point well ahead of time.

If anyone else wants to join in on the way down, put a post up so we can look out for ya!

How many toilet stops do you need? Oh thats right, your bike makes more stops than you do
I'd say sometime between 6 and 7ish in Palmey. It's highly likely we may catch up the early morning group as they estimate getting in at a similar time.
