UPDATE Canceled due to rain.

Right!
I have been asked to help out again at a School Gala on Friday 13th November from 5.00pm until about 7.00pm. This time its for a Kindergarten.
Last year myself along a number of KBer's with some mates on V8 Trikes gave rides around the Tawa school grounds on our steeds. This was a bloody brilliant money raiser for the school and we were busy all day.
What I enjoyed was the buzz of the kids and many of them came back for more time & time again.
If you have an hour or more to spare and would like to come & join me at Mungavin Kindergarten in Porirua please pm me or post here.
It would be great to have a few bikes here and all sizes and types would be more than welcome. The major thing is that you must be comfortable carrying pillions that may not have ever ridden before and happy with kids. The riding is just around the school grounds and mainly on grass so you need to be comfortable in that situation too.
All in all its a great opportunity to show the public that us "bikers" are a bloody good bunch of people and give give them a very small taste of what its all about.

Where: Mungavin Kindergarten
When: Friday 13th November
Time: 5.00pm till 7.00pm
It would be great to get a heap of KBers there and we could show the community what our kb community is like

Does the bike have to be road registered? Do you think the kids would get a kick out of being ridden around on the back of a real race bike? (OK, it's a bucket racer, but still, it has race numbers!)

Racers & buckets fine! Its just going around a school field. The kids love race bikes. Last year Jimbo600 & Drew were really popular with GSXers
The only thing is they must be kid safe. Dont want burnt hands, toes, fingers from pipes & the like.
Could set up a static display type race bike and they could just sit on it.

Hmm yeah it hasn't really got a pillion seat, and it's a bit of a smelly old 2 stroke and is called Rangi, so maybe not such a flash idea after all...
Oh well, free bump for the thread.

Count me in Mal. Couldn't make it last year due to other commitments but date locked and loaded. What safety gear is needed? I have my daughters gear, so helmet (small), Jacket and gloves aren't an issue.

Still worth bringing it along as a 'sit on and get a photo' opportunity.

We did something similar as a fundraiser for our soccer team at the time, went to local school, asked if we could give people rides on bikes, and would give the school 25% of takings, even had a school teacher take funds,we made something like $100 back in 1983 for outlay of $5 fuel. Also another group did stockcar rides and made good money.

Got a set of stands if you want. Be kinda cool to have a few different types of bikes.

It won't go on a stand the exhaust is too close to the swingarm. I was going to suggest bringing the hubby's bucket but then realized that it starts at 5pm on a Friday afternoon and I don't finish work til 5:30 on Fridays. Bummer!

The weather on the long range forecast is not looking too flash for this event.:angry2:
If it is raining I will cancel the rides:crybaby:
Its not safe for anyone riding on wet grass with road tyres and we don't want to have any drops with whipper snappers onboard.
I will PM the people that have indicated that they are keen and let them know if its a go or not.
