Burnout on a trailer.

So was just having a joke discussion with a mate and this question came up. If your bike was on a trailer, and you did a burnout on the trailer, would your bike get confiscated for unnecessary loss of traction?

Oh, the car is stationary and say, parked on the side of the road. This is seriously hypothetical, I'm not going to do it. So don't get all high and mighty please.

I would think that if your bike is on a trailer which is on a street it is a road-legal vehicle, therefore a burnout might be :Police::spanking:

against a post outside a pub..and who should come along? yep, mister plod
so this mate tries (unsucessfully) to get outa drink driving charges
on account of the fact that the bike didnt actually go anywhere....
needless to say there was no glory for him in court:bash:

I thought (so it could be entirley wrong...) that you had to be in charge of the vehicle to get charged, hence DIC. :beer:

We'd have to look at what the courts have defined as being on a road but I'm inclined to think there is no offence.

Wheather or not you would get prosecuted for doing this all depends on the methods involved in the burnout, and how much you spend on a lawyer.

I.e Parked up down the main drag on a Friday night doing a burnout on a trailer WILL get you locked up for the night, I have no doubt about that. Dangerous use of a motor vehicle.
Or on the other hand an organized event with a reputable club taking as many practical safety precautions as possible would probably be fine.

Had a quick look but couldn't find it - there is a vid of a bike doing a burn out on a ute, which is doing a burn out on a truck, which is doing a burn out.

Been there seen that done,was at Gisbourne about 1989/90 for stockcar champs,after Friday night grabbing a burger,along comes a crowd with car on trailer,stopped at lights,the guy in stockcar fires it up,nice sound of v8 ford(221 ci)emitting sounds.A few blocks later was still revving it.
