The site owner did it, apparently (from a mod) because he makes the rules, like it or lump it. Seems we are not all equal, and the principle of this kind of stereotyping is poor and ignorant. I for one am disappointed and guess will have to lump it. Oh well shite happens.

When SCOOTERS pay $750 a year registration ... we will be equal as motorcyclists ... ACC made the divisions.

Perhaps ACC ought to see the "riding gear" of the average scooterist. They may well bump up their levies too if they do ....

The point is different from your views, we are talking about moving the scooter section in the forum, thats all.

Now about your views, why does everything these days everything morph into a rant about ACC. Its old, let it go cos your figures are shite (you have none). Go and read that mopeds get the highest rate of increase at 200%. You big boy bikers go up 99%, so as a percentage you can see that scooters esp mopeds get totally screwed over. Scooters or bikes, its about enjoying the fun of being on either....I love bikes and have enjoyed being a pillion over the years. I took up riding the scooter after several years of crippling anxiety attacks at the suggestion of mates husband to get me back on any type of wheels. After three years finally got the courage to pillion again just a few weeks ago. Id love to get back to learning to ride bike but will probably just go with a bigger scooter....point is we ride to what our confidence and abilities and preference allow us, be it scooter or motorbike. So for me this site is about two wheels on the road regardless of the cc size

Well, if one drew a venn diagram (the circley one right?) it would be in the section covered by:

High performance GP technology
Futuristic design
Huckorily homebuilt
and, Scooter :scooter::slap: (yip, ive registered her as a scooter)

which i imagine would be a small section indeed

Also, if theres ever an electric bike motorcycle subtype, I would like it to be put in the PD section, cos then everything would turn blue, like lightning! also then what are they gonna do if we talk too much shit? send it to PD, oh wait already there :2thumbsup

Well scoots will probably move up the ranks one day, It seems anything that doesn't have a manual gearbox,or uses electricity or is just blatantly a scooter gets grouped together as "Scooter". considering so many bike makers are developing auto bikes the "scooter ranks will swell. Imagine the arguments then. Imagine walking into a bike dealer...... "Hmm Ill have a yam R1 thanks"...."auto or manual".........."Hmm do I want a scooter or real bike"

Wish that the shit givers said something positive or stayed out of it. It is a public forum so anything can happen. Oh well nevermind, thats the way it goes.

im not sure of the behavior of scoots in NP, but here in the smoke, they have earned the ire of many a motorist .. maybe once the nupty's start acting as if they have 2/3 of a brain cell attitudes will change ..

my wife is a scooter commuter and she cant stand the little buzzy pricks either

So its ok when its YOUR wife on a scooter - but anyone else on a scooter is automatically a 'buzzy little prick'...really logical, great stereotyping. Just the sort of stereotyping applied to motorcyclists by non-motorcyclists.

hold on sunshine .. " buzzy little pricks" are HER words.... im a hoon on my bike.. never for a second doubt that .. NEVER in traffic, NEVER with a pillion and NEVER in a group.. you would be amazed at the number of complete muppets i see on the road all day (i drive a truck in the Auckland CBD ).. cars, trucks, motorcycles, scooters, pushbikes and pedestrians.... scooters scare the willys out of me .. yea stereotyping i guess but lets look at the Atypical Scooter Rider .. under 25, not much cash for safety gear, late for class/ work, not much experience, 10 foot tall and bulletproof etc..

im sure there are awesome scooter riders out there, just like bikers and car drivers.. but when you put that stereotypical Scooter Commuter into heavy traffic on shit roads and yea .. Buzzy little Pricks..

Times a changing

Good to see someone has looked 5 minutes into the future :) but I'd say there won't be the option, look at the percentage of manual vs auto cars available now.. the stats (I believe) are about 10% to 90% I doubt manual motorcycles will even exist except for in museums 50 years from now.

As for the complaints about "buzzy little pricks" et al fact is most cagers say precisely the same things about bikers, especially when splitting on the m/way etc. "those crazy pricks are a menace" etc

Fact is two wheels, in a row, motor of some description in the middle driving (generally) the rear wheel... same shit different day. Stop bitching about the minor differences and using them as a reason for waving your tiny cock around on the internet.

As for the location on the forum... meh! who really cares? if it offends you, go somewhere else... yes it is convenient to have access to both "motorbike" and "scooter" info on the same forum so i will continue to frequent the place... in the real world... you know outside the cloud... most people don't give a flying f.... bikes and scooters are just a pain in the ass, thats the only place it matters...

I ride both, regularly so reckon I have the credentials to comment... but is guess im not racist or sexist particularly either so I may not be biggoted enough to comment.

Wasn't clear to me whose words they were.

This is the problem though: there's a 15 year old girl that rides past my house, on a 50cc vmoto, car licence, open face helmet and no gloves. And there are people that have never met me lumping me in with her and calling me SCUM, despite the fact that I'm 35, have a full motorcycle licence, 12 years riding experience, including long open road trips, the longest on a 135cc vespa to the Brass Monkey, by myself, spending 8 days travelling in the middle of winter. May not be much to you guys on 'big' bikes, but I really enjoyed it and it was a real challenge. I don't just commute to work day after day.

Those 'buzzy little pricks' aren't going to be signing up to kiwibiker in droves are they? Most are not interested in the riding community at all. But those of us who ARE here ARE interested.

Just interested if there is as much division in the HT community as the two wheeled?
I could imagine class five looking down on class two or long haul crapping on short haul or cattle trucks with full tanks crapping on...well, everyone.

The Government researchers reading these forums must be pissing their pants laughing. All they had to do was rattle the cage, give some monkeys more than others, then just sit back and enjoy the show. Social programming at its best.
After all this ACC crap is over we will probably have to face another hit. That will probably be compulsory insurance, I think the only thing stopping it happening is the insurance council want the insurance companies to control the fees (eg dip shyts pay more, the rest don't), and I think the govt want a set fee. Don't quote me tho

If you want to ride a motorcycle, buy one.

A lot of us already did.

It really doesn't need to be a "them or us" thing. Unless you've such a microcephalic conciousness that you can only barely manage one concept at a time.

The reality is that anybody who is against scooters as bikers is working for the opposition.

It has been a while since I was on here and I have missed a lot!

My only question is: who cares?

Frankly, if some dude wants to call me gay, or a loser, or whatever to make himself feel better, hell, he can fill his boots. Doesn't bother me in the least. I am quite happy to log my 15,000 odd k's per annum on my 200cc automatic scooter. If some mullet-wearing bogun wants to put us in "off topic", then again, who cares?

The real bikers are the dudes on the roads, not behind their keyboards. I was riding home from work on the motorway the other day with some dude on a big bike following me. We were both doing around 110. We got off at the same offramp and this dude on some Japanese thing with lots of letters on it (like XZFGWYT or some-such) leans over and says: "dude, that thing goes well for a scooter". So you see, not all scooters are slow and useless and not all bikers are wankers.

Diversity is wonderful and frankly, I would hate to be the same as some of the bike riders on this site. My right hand would be too hairy!!

As the saying goes: Don't sweat the petty things, but do pet the sweaty things!!
