Looks like either some obscene bravery or total stupidity.

Was quite a fan myself.

Well i'll bite...what seems to be ya problem. The bike is gorgeous.

In fact the latest AMCN reports that the UK allocation out of a total global production of 200 have already been sold out.

The only problem as I see it is the price tag of 15,995 Pounds putting it around the 40k mark for plebs like me.

However there will be a lower spec version (getting rid of the overpriced ohlins bollox I expect)in the pipeline.

I am a fan and this is gonna be the bike i retire my bike buying days on.

Looks quite nice (amazing).

I'd love to have one too!

If you had $40k available you still couldn't buy one.

I'm surprised they can make money on a production run of only 200, even at that price.

Maybe if they produced 2000 or considered this as a full production model, the price would be more reasonable and the owners would have a chance of owning more than just a classic museum piece.

I'd keep the Ducati and team it with that sex on a stick Norton. The Vincent is cool but just not quite me.

That is the Kenny Dreer Norton Commando 962. Nothing has changed that I can see. Dreer managed to sell all the "signature series" initial run he did for IIRC about $40k US. These guys have picked up the IP, tooling, whatever stock that was left and have resumed.

People pay upwards of $30k for thos Paul Smart Ducatis: this is in a similar market niche it seems to me.

I would have one in a heartbeat.

Kenny Dreer had taken plenty of deposits but i don't think he actually delivered any bikes other than a couple of test/display models, he had spent too much on development and the funders pulled the pin before he could get there.
Stuart Garner has bought the design, name etc, and has plenty of his own money from other successful businesses. He has sub contracted out specialist work - for instance engines built by Menard, so i guess has not had to invest in too much expensive manufacturing equipment.
I think the basic model has been announced at 12,000 pounds -still not cheap - i suppose it could be made cheaper in Thailand like certain other "British" bikes?

Clearly Kenny Dreer is a smart cookie.

What amazes me is that the such old designs still look so appealing.

Saw it in the flesh at the Isle Of Man this year, and there is a LOT more to come from them yet, YES, I left a little squirt on it:wari:

The new owner is as serious as the current owner of Triumph

Nice bike. Lucky they drilled holes in the foot peg hanger otherwise it would be too heavy...

That yellow Norton is beautiful but for one thing.......yellow !!!
Give the Cafe Racer black with gold stripes, ie JPS colours (like the SE has).

This is why I like my V11 Sport :)

Yellow has been a Norton colour for a long time and the original JPS colour scheme was mostly white with red and blue

It's a form of cruelty, putting that up here. Always loved Commandos and that's the ultimate.

Very nice and I approve. But cafe racers not appropriate for my fat, old arse. Would like Norton to bring out a retro ES2
http://i49.tinypic.com/2uoh1ci.jpg
But would probably be outside of my pocket so will be happy with a Bonnie T100 when the time is right

Motu
1st February 2010, 13:33
Although I think the Bonnie is a lard arse and a long way from the original,at least it retains the adaptability of the old school Triumph - fitting in anything from the Thruxton to the Scrambler and America.I hope they don't lose the same thing with this new Norton - the original came in Fastback,Roadster,Interstate,Scrambler,Hi Rider, the Production Racer, and also came in a Police model too.

The Commando was never a sportsbike - I hope they make it desirable to a wider audience.

Hopefully in 1 years time things will be in full swing with knowing export numbers, prices etc for a norty over here, and I can check out becoming an owner.

ok they have some overseas distributors now, the closest one i think is japan.
the website also says the cheaper commandos are still only available in the uk. just waiting i spose. should make it all the more sweeter aye?
